Two parter.
1) I've been dating a guy for a short while now (about 2 months) and he's been around a bit, used to be something of a ladies man we'll say. Last evening he found out that he was only my second and got kind of quiet.. what do you think that means? Good or bad, what? All he said was that he was expecting a few more, didn't say why.
2) honestly men, what do you think of when a woman tells you her magic number and it's much higher or lower then you thought it would be?

1) He was probably quite as he could have been ashamed of the number he had,and worried what you might think. I mean I have been with over 20 woman, and when I am asked..... I get kind of quite. Unless your a dog, not many people are proud of sleeping with so many people. At least I am not.
2) I don't think much of the number myself. I have been around as that comes hand in hand with dating and trying to find the true love...right. I mean there is a difference between 20, and 100. To me 20 would mean he's had bad luck in his search but yet stayed in relationships.... 100 is, well.... nasty.
Just my 2 cents....keep the change. :)

Sounds like he found someone he has some respect for. If you had said 15, he probably would have figured you for any other piece of trash he's had. He now knows different, and he probably suspects that you need to be in a committed relationship before things get physical. That may have spooked him.
As for the "magic number," mine is pretty low. I'm rather selective, and I expect that of a potential mate. So the value is relative to mine. Too much higher has negative connotations. Too low and more investigation is necessary.

You know I don't think a number measn anything really, its just like age a simple number! But I will tell you this if this guy is a lagys man like you said then he probably felt shocked and maybe a little bad for being the way he is and having had so many partners and to know that he was number 2 for you is a little shocking. He never felt so priviliedged I bet...
But when I hear the magic number sometimes I care but others you know I don't even want to know. As long as they respect me, love me, and never even dream of cheating...I'm happy!
ANd as long as I kow they were never prostitues, or had a severe STD, or had many abortions...

Wow, what an unique premise. enable's insult Christians via calling their God a magic guy and then - get this - mean that they are kinda stupid! that's not at all been finished until eventually now! heavily, I guess in case you sat and theory for a couple of minutes you need to arise with a much greater effectual question than this.

In my opinion, the number of previous relationships that a girlfriend has had is only significant in the sense that, generally speaking, the less frequently she moves from one relationship to another, the more likely it is that she will be willing to put enough effort into this current relationship to make it work.
My guess: Your boyfriend's silence was probably an indication that he felt ashamed about his record, especially in light of your comparatively clean slate. In any event, don't worry too much about it - but if you're concerned enough about the purport of his pause to post it to this forum, you might want to just ask him about it the next time you two are together.

In all honesty It really does not matter to me but the higher the number the higher risk for std's. I think you took him by surprise considering he got quiet and that would mean he figured you were a little more wild.

I like to hear as low a number as possible, to many tells me she is not easy to get along with...just a few on the other hand tells me she is willing to put some effort into the relationship even when things are not their best...I welcome low numbers and am hesitant to add to those who have high numbers behind there belts.

He was expecting a few more? What an *** clown. I think it would be a good thing. And I don't care if you're if a woman had more or less partners than me, but I'd prefer less.

how would you feel that you end up hooking up with your 1st choice, only to discover later on when you discover you are second and he cheated on you and then dump you for his 1st? of course it's bad.
