Oh, this is an awesome recipe, man!!! I've used it on chicken. You get your favorite beer, and drink about half of it. Then, you add seasonings to the beer (ginger, paprika, chicken seasoning... whatever you like on your turkey). Shove it up the bird's behind, and then grill it until it falls over. When it falls over it's done (referred to as drunken chicken sometimes). But the meat winds up saturated with the seasoned beer and is just fall-apart-y and moist and delicious! Go for it!

It's the method of grilling a whole bird that is draped over a full can of beer. The beer keeps the bird moist during cooking while adding a subtle flavor of hops. I wouldn't recommend doing this with a large turkey either. A matter of fact this is a common way to cook chicken. I've seen it featured on a number of cooking programs on the Foodnetwork.

Heck ya I have cooked Chicken on the Barbeque that way..
But I bet a Big Turkey would need a Beer the Size of a Foster Lager to do the trick..

Open a beer, sit the turkey bum on top...turkey has to cook vertical or the beer will spill (obviously). Supposedly chicken and turkey made this way is really good.

You open a can of beer, place a chicken (or I guess a small turkey would work) on the can by inserting can in cavity, then set beer can on grill and roast away.

You're friend isn't crazy. Open up a can of beer, prop up a turkey on top of it, then roast it.

I think it's overrated. Just like deep fried turkey.

its when you take a large can of beer, open it, stuff it in the turkey, place the turkey in an upright position (so the beer doesnt spill out), and then you cook it.

your friend is right!

Turkey's are too big for this cooking method. Google "Beer Butt Chicken"
