I don't wish to claim compensation as it's not the airlines fault. I would just like to get back the money I paid for the flight if it get cancelled.

You are not entitled to compensation under the EU regulations as it it not the airlines fault. It is however their duty to get you to your destination I believe.

Don't take it out on the airlines, its not their fault. Better to be inconvenienced than blown up by a terrorist. Have a thought for the airlines and their staff!

No, read the small print, the insurance does not cover terrorism and neither do the airlines policies. All of the recent cancellations was put down to terrorism.

Probably, or they can give you another free flight. If you're at the airport, go to the customer service desk for your airline. If you are at home or work, try calling the airline and telling them the problem.

It's early days yet. Our flight is for Wednesday. But as it's on BA and as we bought our tickets with an Amex card I am certain that, if cancelled, we'll get reimbursed. I also e-mailed our prepaid car rental company and they said that if we don't fly we'll get a refund from them too.

Crap airlines may try it on; but http://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/ is your friend.
