All wines contain histamines that can cause a reaction especially in someone who has any kind of allergy, because of the sensitivity to the present of histamines.
It' s usually red wines that cause allergic reactions because they contain 200% more histamines than white however, wines from warmer climates contain more histamines than those from cooler climate. If you really love some of those wines that cause the reaction you could try taking an antihistamine about an hour before drinking BUT DO NOT DRINK A LOT BECAUSE the dehydrating effects of the medicine will compound the possibility of a plain old hang over. Probably better to avoid the problem by finding 'safe' wines to drink. French, Italian and Canadian wines, coming from a cool climate are good choices to try. I'd avoid wines from warm climates. Cheers

You have probably developed an allergic reaction to something in the wine from that area. Switch to the same type of wine from another country and see if it makes a difference. You may have developed an intolerence or allergic reation to that particular type of wine no matter where it is made. I had this same thing happen to me with the licorice flavored drink called Sambuca. I was able to drink it for a long time and then I started developing a terrible case of burning hot, red rash all over body , which was a case of Hives. So now I avoid Sambuca completely. Hope this helps.

If that's the case then you're simply allergic to something in the wines from south africa. Look at the ingredients and compare it to wines that you don't have the reaction to.
