Ok, this is no big deal, but Im curious to know what you would do in this situation. So, I went to del taco yesterday, my order was $2 bux, I was in the drive through, I handed the guy a $5 dollar bill, and he gave me the food, and handed me my change, as i drove forward, i noticed he had given me $8.00 back, he must have thought i gave him a $10.00. My question is, what would you have done, parked the car and returned the $5 bux that wasnt yours or keep driving?

Whatever. Jizzmopper and Rodz are the only people on here being honest. It's not a big frickin' deal -- just keep the money. Registers are short ALL THE TIME. You're going to go back in and embarrass the poor kid in front of other customers and his manager? I don't think so. There have probably been other times when they shorted you money, so it all evens out.

Plus, seriously, you're going to get out of the car, all stinkin' hungover and your hair's a mess and you smell like rum and coke to stand in line to give jose back his $8? f that! why should you have to be inconvenienced for somebody else's mistake? it's a drive thru. that means you don't get out.

and... you don't get fired for your register being $8 short one day. you get fired when your register is $10 short everyday for a month.

oh, and seriously, i waited like 15 minutes at the del taco window the other day. i think the guy forgot about me, and then he put chicken in my cheese quesadilla. gross. then i had to get out and go in. so, there, you gave it right back to them. thanks.

Yup, you park, walk into the restaurant, give them back the $5
and tell them what happened.

Why? Because in many chains, the person operating the
register is responsible for the tally - and it comes out of his
pay check or hide if its wrong.

Remember that these chains are dealing with all kinds of
employees and really don't trust them very well - so they
make sure that the employees try to keep the numbers
as accurate as possible by making them responsible for
the till.

That is, you might not be taking it from the chain. You
may be taking it from the person operating the till.

I had this happen to me a fews months back. I returned the money and the person behind the counter just looked at me funny. I told her that she had gave me too much change, She just looked at me like a calf looking at a new gate...I told her again that she had given me too much change. She said well are you sure? , I said yes and put the money on the counter and walked off.

Always be honest---it does pay in the long run.

I would have returned the $5. When he counts his drawer down at the end of his shift, and he's short, he could lose his job, or be forced to pay the difference out of his pocket.

I would hate knowing that someone could get fired for an honest, $5 mistake.

Return it,that poor guy could get introuble for a mistake that anyone could make, it may not seem like much money but it would probably come out of his paycheck and you never know how badly someone could use that money,he might need it for his kids

that means you would have had to gotten out of your car walk inside... or get back in the driv thu line... "F" that. thats the whole point of going thru the drive thu.... cause your too lazy.... if it was more than 10 or 15 then yeah i would have returned it... even then its not like he was going to lose his job. and if he did taco bell aint that great of a job. you would have been doing him a favor. and maybe he'll learn to be more carefull

I would of returned them money (and I've done it too)...I would not want to risk loosing the riches and blessings God has for me over five dollars.
If you didn't go back today...be a blessing to the person he/she are probably getting paid minimum wages and those five dollars are coming out of their pay check.

do you know how long it would take you to return money at a fast food restaurant?

most of those people can't even read, much less count change or money, and they would act like it is a disturbance that you tried to bring the money back

think of it as them giving you back some money for the incredible amount of time you spend waiting for your food, or compensation for them continually effing up your order

I personally would have returned it. I have worked at places as a manager that required you to pay when your register comes up short. It isn't fair but that person probably got into trouble with their boss for being short. I wouldn't want to mess up someone's job. He may have been distracted or busy.

$8.00 is easy. Ask that question again with a few zero's behind the 8.
