I am doing this as a public service for fundamentalists who've lately been the victims of general ridicule over this and so many other issues. It also serves a perverted sense of absurd that's lately replaced my creative writing.
I think I found a way to completely sever science from religion on this question. By "religion" I mean the followers of the mini-god, the one who can't abide what science is doing to Genesis & such. The great-god followers have no problem with any science.
Anyway, the solution is to tell them we now understand that prior to Adam's fall, there was no need for things like an immune system. Up to that point we were "perfectly designed." Then, as a direct consequence of that original sin, God decided he'd let defects creep into the system, along with death, disease, child bearing pains, and a penchant for bad music.
So you see, it's not "bad" design; it's really spiteful design. Well, maybe "vengeful" would sound godlier.

The immune system is the ultimate Good Cop, Bad Cop system, It is fascinating how neutrophils, macrophages, basophils, eosinopihls and more work together to keep it's host as healthy as possible and prevent as much interference from outside influence as possible. Very Good cop. Of course yin and yang- light and darkness you have to have the downside and that's an overzealous immune system.Autoimmune problems such as Lupus, MS, Diabetes or weakened immune systems like AIDS, is that intelligent? Don't know. Maybe they are just little cells trying to figure out if there is a real person out there or if they are just suspended matter. Little philosopher cells?

If I ever meet this alleged "Intelligent designer" I want to ask It about the duck billed platypus. I mean here is something that looks like either a joke or somebody using left over spare parts or screwing around.
I mean
It has fur. and webbed feet.
It's the only venomous mammal- little spiny things on the back feet/paws whatever that sting. Hard.
But is it a mammal? It lays eggs!
And what's up with blind cave fish. They have eyes. They just don't work. If you were designing everything "Intelligently" why would you bother to make eyes?

The real question is why would an almighty intelligent designer create us so that we poop and pee... Yea, we need to get rid of waste, but if he is all powerful wouldn't he think of a way to bypass the waste thing? Maybe have us use everything we take in? If he makes the rules, waste must be very important... that or he really likes bathroom humor.
Furthermore, why are some natural processes so embarrassing?

Both. Every living thing - both animate and inanimate - has an immune system. This is both the product of evolution, in that this immune system is always in a state of adaptation, and intelligent design, because "Life", in any capacity, "Will Not Be Denied".

evolution fur sure. Only those who lived through diseases in the past and passed down the genetic code capable of defeating those illnesses to their decendants have survived up to today. Congrats to us!!
Now, diarrea is a good example of unintelligent design. yuck!

Come on now, God created our bodies to be self sufficient. If you are going to live in a sinful state and open yourself up to the cursing instead of the blessing , your body will begin to live in that state. At the level of complexity that our brain chemistry works, it may take some studying to see that God created us to live in a state of simplistic peace with Him, not in a state of fight or flight with Satan at the helm. Check out the book, A More Excellent Way. It follows biblical principles, yet explores medical discovery and how human biology interacts with today's societal pressure and medical advances. Our bodies are amazing creations, and if we could become educated on how they work biologically and spiritually we could be in good health beyond the curse of this fallen world.

I think that if God made humans to be the pinnacle of creation, then there would be no need for immune systems. Why would he make all of these creepy crawly bugs to plauge us? Psuedomonas? E. Coli? Strep?
What's it's purpose?
If you don't know, then you should not claim to know the purpose of anything based on religion.

too bad i'm late to work, or this is fascinating subject to write missives on. sneezing does indeed serve a great purpose, but have to look at it from it's original evolutionary purpose, not that of modern society. meanwhile, sneezing is a histamine symptom, so get yourself some over the counter non-sedating antihistamines and stop whining.
