I lie, and I lie a lot, but recently I was actually caught head on, and had nothing to say its like my mouth just shut. How do I deal with getting caught in a lie.
I know people will say "DONT LIE" but lets be realistic, thats life. The president lies, the government lies, your parents lie, everyone lies. I just want to know how to prepare for getting caught? Im thinking its like being preparred to get kick between the legs, you just hope it doesnt happen but when it does say ouch and then what?

Everyone who answered DONT LIE will not be considered.
In Society everyone lies at one point or another. I dont know what hole you are living in, but lying is a way of life. EVERYONE HAS DONE IT AT ONE POINT OR ANOTHER, EVEN SOMETHING SMALL (NO I DIDNT EAT THE COOKIES) TO SOMETHING BIG LIKE (I WASNT AWARE THAT I WAS DEFRAUDING INVESTORS WHEN MY COMPANY ENRON COLLAPSED)
IT HAPPENS FOLKS

Depends what kind of lie, and whom you tried to fool. I did earlier a lot... specially in handling b\f's. But i never got caught, Cause i always had another story to tell... to explain. ;D
Parents... well i always went the sure way... i did not tell anything, where i would have to lie.
Official... um that's hard, but still you can lie, with small back up.
Never lie in a hurry, not knowing what to say... always take time to fit the lie into your life.
Well, when you are caught... first of all...forget you moral, and act!
Important is, that you yourself believe in what you act. Pretend to be very disappointed, if it is a private relationship... pretend to be hurt, insulted... and take time out. Get cool down and plan some story in peace to get out of that sh**.
If it is an official story, well Stress is the Evil! Always. Not you, never you. Ever heard about " burn out syndrome "? Inform yourself about and use this syndrome...
Pretend!

So you got caught in a lie. Big deal. You must expect that once in a while. Do you really believe you get away with every single lie you tell? Most people won't confront you on a lie, but they'll still not believe you. Poor you if you think they do.
But for what it's worth: the best lies contain at least 50% truth. That way you always have a way out.
And if you get caught: confess and apologize. The truth shall set you free.

Well, you're right. The easiest way to not get caught in a lie is to not tell lies - even when it means you might embarrass yourself or get into trouble for telling the truth.
I would rather have to embarrass myself by admitting to something stupid I've done, than to get caught in a lie, because then your credibility is shot completely, and no one will believe anything you say.
If you've been caught, the best thing to do is admit it. And apologize profusely. And be prepared to not be trusted until you prove you actually can be.

First of all, its not cool to blame other people for your lies! And no, not everyone does lie, for the exact reason that you stated in your question. Because its more trouble to keep up with or get out of lies. I guess you are just gonna have to suck it up and admit that you lied and take what you've got coming to you. If you lie as much as you say you do, people in your life probably already labeled you as a a lire anyway.

Why don't you work on NOT lying instead of how to cover it up. Honesty is the best policy and it sure makes life much easier! Ever stop and ask yourself why you lie so much???

Your original assessment is correct...do not lie.
Since you already have, and been caught, apologize.
People WILL get on to you and once they do, your reputation will be shot.
The truth is a much easier to remember.
