at what age is a good age to tell your kids about sex? and what do you say to a boy? or girl? I mean, I never got a sex talk from parents. I learned about sex on TV and school. My son is only 1, but when should I expect that question and what should I say?

You'll know when the time is right - usually b/c the kid starts asking questions. Mine started asking ?'s about where babies came from at about 5 years old. I was always very honest with them and added more details as they got older - they are now 9 & 10 and know about sex, periods, and just about anything else they have ever wondered about.

There is no real set time to tell them. best thing is to go ahead and rehearse in your head what you are going to say and be prepared ahead of time for the question that way you are not caught off guard. I believe in telling them the truth I have two daughters now (as of Tuesday second daughter was born). I intend to tell them all about sex and pregnancy as well as the dangers involved such as STD's. If your children are informed with the truth, then they have all the weapons and defense they need. You need to discuss the problems of early age pregnancy as well as the benefits of waiting for the right person to ensure they are not stereotyped by friends and peers. Hope this helps

Answer their questions honestly and age appropriately as they ask them from the time they are little. Sex should not be some big secret that you suddenly spring on them at a certain age. Or, believe me, they will learn stuff from their friends and it will be wrong.

Opening that can of worms at an age younger than 7-8 can be interesting at Parent-Teacher conferences! My son is 5 and asks where babies come from...he still thinks the doctor just GAVE us his little brother!! I just told him from mommy's belly! Don't get too graphic with them...my youngest is 2.5 yrs old and he's always pointing at women's boobies!! And after hearing my husband tell me nice A** ...he repeats that to EVERY woman he sees!! THE TALK... can wait until they can NOT laugh about it around their friends...(can you imagine...getting those phone calls in 1st grade?!)

wen he asks. r wen somtin comes up in school that he gets the talk in school r sumthin. watever age u think hes ready. i got it wen i was 7 cuz i asked. but boys r different. im sure if u dont want to tell him he will find out eventually. it is a hard subject to discuss with boys but he will hopefully understand. r maybe if u get one of ur good guy friends r boyfriend, r husband someone that u think he trusts and that u trust to talk to him. that would b better than u talkin to him cuz he might get embarrased

Age 10 is best and the Wikipedia answer to the definition of 'sexual intercourse' is a good way to start.

These days the sooner the better. Kids need to learn to protect themselves from predators, so the more information they'll be equipped to defend themselves.
