I'm 72 years old and I have earned the God given right to express my opinion. Not to mention the fact that I'm a veteran and fought and risked my life to protect these freedoms for God and my country.

Some of you by your pictures look like you're about 12 years old and act even younger. I'm not very good at taking flak from punks. If I contacted your parents they'd take a belt to your backside.

And another thing. Sodomites don't follow the word of God, so why should they be allowed to have a say in the religion section?

I support banning punks and sodomites from the religion and spirituality section. Do you?

What's a SODOMITE?

So as a veteran that has "fought for our freedoms", you would want to ban the freedom of speech? Does your age or being a Vet mean that the world owes you? That sure sounds like what you are saying.

I agree that there are too many juveniles running around on this site. Yahoo is trying to address some of these issues. In the meantime should not we adults try and set an example for them by either ignoring their trash talk or setting them straight? The only thing that the"belt" achieved and other abuses that your generation meted out was to drive your children away from you and reject the things that you believe in.

If your religion cannot stand up to some scrutiny or even a little abuse then maybe it's not all that you claim it to be.
It's ridiculous to put blind faith into a book of myths and politics that contain stories that have been floating around humanity long before Abraham and Moses. The bloody history of the Judeo / Christian / Islamic behavior has only served the forces of hatred in the world. Why not question this? This is a religion section not another Christians only club. There are plenty of those all over America.

Don,
I read your answers. I saw your website and respect your right to your opinion. I believe free speech is at work here on Yahoo Answers.

That said, I don't think "banning punks and sodomites" from the religion and spirituality section does any good. You know that God loves us all. Sodomites don't follow the word of God. I'm a Christian and admittedly neither do I all the time. The Bible puts me in the same position of them. I sin and then need to seek forgiveness and work to change my ways/direction. It is our ongoing struggle.

Because you are 72 and have seen a lot more than the rest of us, you have a better perspective on some things. Ignore the insulting responses. They get away with this because they don't have to be held accountable to their comments. Keep explaining things with love to those that will listen.

Sir,

I am a 15 month Nam vet also and an ex 10 year military man who likewise believes freedom should be and must be protected as one way of life. I see freedom as freedom for all as long as their freedom does not touch the tip of my nose for to me that is then an infringement of the freedom limit.

That freedom I served for was so others could enjoy it as well as me and many of those others did pay my salary while I was doing the fighting. So to thank them for that I want them to have a free opportunity to express their opinion just as I do desire to express mine. They may not have fought but they did sweat or their parents did sweat to pay me to fight OK.

I do thank my God that I do have a tough skin and do know how to close my ears, shut my eyes and to punch the delete button on this crazy machine I call a computer if there is something I do not like. After I punch delete I just smile and say ha ha ha I got rid of you like a wet rag wiping a black board LoL LOL. Yes I did learn to talk to myself alone in front of my computer and to make me feel good about what I do to those so and so's who like to enjoy their freedom ha ha ha. Don't get hurt, get a lot of laughs OK

I being an American do accept it is that all do have the right to the pursuit of happiness so let all seek that any way they can or want to but just ask them to not touch your nose OK.

Yes, maybe I am a young punk to you at 66 and just don't understand the 72 year olds. I am sorry for that but then in 6 years I will learn OK.

Now do smile and have a great day and look for the delete button.

P.S. This is just a secret between you and me OK. I did rate your question as a GOOD Question. Be happy for that OK. I will not tell anyone else here on Yahoo Q&A that I did that so you please keep it to yourself.

I was brought up to respect my elders but I'll make an exception. First of all, theres a thing called freedom of speech, so you have no say to who can and cant express there opinon I'm sorry that you have a problem with punks and sodomites, your kids must have rebeled against you or turned gay. Everyone one of us is gods children no matter what.

You have earned nothing by being 72 if, the sum total of your experiences has led you to this rant...

So you managed to miss the forgiveness part of the bible? have another read through it - it's in there somewhere...

Didn't Jesus himself go and try to convert the non-believers: Jesus is obviously a bad example of someone for you to follow (not believing in forgiveness as you do). He, of course, would
see Yahoo Answers as a platform to convert rather than just as some bigotry sounding board.

Freedom of expression is not something the religion supports, strangely everyone else (well, every enlightened and civilized race) seems to think it is a good idea though - bizarre isn't it: your religion has set you at odds against your own country...guess that makes you a communist!

Censorship is very much apart of all religious practices, now who else famously practiced censorship/book burning?! let me think...

What else, you promise physical violence; what a godly sage
you are! And you resort to name calling too: Maturity, thy name is Don...

I am bored now, however I am sure you are haven't bothered reading this far down so I will give up on you too...

Can I have ten points please

uhm, im punk?! and im very religious, and just because sodomites dont believe in god doesn't mean they dont have a religion er watever and if you told my parents i was doing this, they would never take a belt to my backside, they'd encourage me, yah, im only 13 years old, but you know what just like you fought for our country, youre still a jackass, who thinks that only you are right and the people that agree with you, this country has freedom of religion, and so everyone is entitled to be able to ask and put their opinions in on these types of things, no matter how many pple think otherwise! oh and just so you kno, if you got a belt to your backside for backing up your religion or telling off stupid prejudice....(i think thats how you spell it) jerks like yourself when you were a teen, or if you DO THAT PERSONALLY like to your kids or grandkids or greatgrandkids, er watever then you are F****D up! and as us "young wippersnappers" (as old asses like you like to say) say, you just got told by a 13 year old how do you feel now grandpa???? go get a life! and stop bashing other religions, and pples beliefs, that probably just means, you're insecure, and find faults in your religion as well, but take it out on everyone else instead! so there! and i bet a lot more people will agree with me then with you!!!

My friend: 'EVERYONE' has the GOD given right to free speech & freewill... even the sodomites: atheists: agnostics: punks: brats: chav’s: & they also have the right, to post questions or answers, anywhere they like on this site: including the ‘Religious’ section!!

I respect your age: and I respect what you have done in service for your country & fellow man… My Grandparents did the same… as have: & are: many other members of my family & friends!! But please remember what you were/are fighting for… ‘Freedom & Democracy’!!

If you don’t like the ‘Flack’ you receive from these ‘punks’: stay out of the war and hide in your bunker with your cup of co-co… or you can choose to put on your helmet: and fight back with the wisdom of your age & experience of life, love, Christ, war, and all else you have experienced!!

But don’t seek to take away the freedom you laid down your life for… when in such a trivial area!!

God bless & keep you.

Well, I agree with certain parts of your opinion. People who continually make disrespectful and rude comments should be banned. But not just because their opinions differ from yours.

We all have the right to express our opinions regardless of age, military service, color, sex, yadda yadda yadda. Banning sodomites from religion would be like banning sick people from the hospital. Perhaps they don't follow the word of God according to you. God speaks to people in different ways. Mis-quoting of the Bible is a sin, too. No one sin is bigger or smaller than the other. Can't pick and choose what to point your finger at and say their sin is worse than your own. Remember "judge not, lest ye be judged"

While I'm not the spokesman for gay people, they are people. What they do behind closed doors, frankly, isn't my business and vice versa.

I do respect your age and I honor you for your service as a veteran.

However, freedom has many aspects, including freedom of thought, and freedom of worship in the religion of one's choice, even if it is different from someone such as yourself. We all have a right to our own opinion, and should be able to express it, as long as we are civil.

I would only ban those who use profane language. As for sodomites, do you mean gay people? If so, many religions do accept gay people into their congregations. They are our brothers, sisters, friends, and neighbors. They have the same right to an opinion and religion as anyone else. If we all put our religion into practice, no one would judge anyone else. That is God's job.

In the United States, every citizen has the right to freely express themselves. Otherwise, the religion section is for ALL religions. As such tolerance should be the watchword. I too am a veteran and as a patriot I fought to defend the rights of others, which does not include agreeing with others necessarily, just defending their right to have their beliefs. Including the freedom of religion.
