Whenever a large natural disaster occurs (Hurrican Katrina, earthquake, tsunami in the Indian Ocean) you hear media type preachers claiming the disaster came from God as a punishment.

God created humans but he has no control over them. He even had to send his son to convince humans they needed to come into his "flock". God created animals and placed them into the domain and care of human. One can assert God doesn't control the animals if he needed humans to care for them. God created nature and deducing from his other creations he probably doesn't control Nature either. Does God really control and inflict natural disasters?

Nobody truly knows the answer of that question. It may be answered by your religion.

God is the essence of all living things. God has no name, no gender and is not a physical being. The stories of God abound throughout the world with an enormous amount of disparity. Your question is based on many presumptions concerning your religious beliefs. These stories are just that "Stories" written by people to explain the unknown and to elevate mankind to the status of divinity. Natural Disasters are not the result of punishment from a deity but rather a result of weather conditions and or geological elements. Natural Disasters are necessary and are the maintenance mechanism of the planet. If it weren't for these disasters mankind would turn this planet into a polluted cesspool. We are the worst natural disaster to ever happen to this planet. Get off the religious horse and you will enjoy the ride more!

Ultimately God controls all things. By definition, God is omnipotent, i.e. all-powerful, and has the ability to control all things. However, direct manipulation of all events is not necessarily God's method of operation.

When God created the world, He created it to have its own functioning. He created the water cycle, photosynthesis, geologic formation, and the many other natural systems which operate here on planet earth. He can intervene in them at anytime he wants with a 'super-natural' event, however, often he does not.

Our earth and mankind were created to be in a constant state of life, however, the sin that mankind exhibited in the Garden caused a separation from God. The results of this separation was the introduction of the concept of Death (which did not exist prior to the first sin of Adam and Eve) and a curse of God being placed on the earth.

When this curse was placed on the earth, the previously perfect environment created to safely house God's living creature's, became a flawed one capable of taking the lives of its inhabitants through such natural disasters as those you described.

It is true that God will sometimes intervene in His creation in a supernatural way, but often, death is more the normal functioning of our fallen world.

The only way to ultimately win out over death is to put your trust in it's creator, God and His son Jesus Christ.

I hope this helps.

I will NOT get into the God's existence thing... but natural disasters are called natural disasters... because they're natural... or caused by nature... hence the name!

I will tell you this... EVERY one of those media preachers are crooks. It is SO embarrassing that so many stupid humans believe the words coming out of their mouth and send them money. Those guys make several million a year... in the name of God. This is why the federal government could NOT tell us secrets if they wanted to... you humans are too stupid yet.

If there is one group of people I would guess was going to hell first... media preachers using the name of God to make themselves money!!!

One could believe that he is, like he sent the flood of the old testament or the various plaques of Egypt, however, I feel that for the most part, he does not.

Thomas Aquinas believed that God was the "First Mover"....that is that he created everything and began movement in the world. Since then, its kinda been on its own, as movement goes...and natural disasters are nothing but the movement of water, air, earth, etc.

I myself dont believe that God would want to hurt what he created simple because the bible says that God created the earth for man to enjoy and to fill the earth he has given us all that we need to live here it is man who has caused much of the earths problems by being greedy and trying to control something that he never will be able to control i dont think its fair to blame God for man mistakes.the bible says that GOD is love would you hurt something that you love?

yes, but i doubt its as punishment

in God's eyes, death is hardly a punishment, since it will bring you close to him

God causes natural disasters because they are necessary
