I live in Northeast Nebraska. How do I catch it? Anyway I think it's a parakeet....it's green with a yellow head and belly.

Sounds like someone either forgot to clip the birds wings, or they let it go because they didnt want to care for it anymore. If it is friendly you can try to see if it will come to you, otherwise it will fly away. The problem is where you live the Parakeet will not survive very long in the wild. If the wild birds don't kill it, the colder weather that will be coming will kill it. You could also try putting a small cage with Parakeet food in it and see if the bird will go into the cage on its own

That's how I got my parakeet.
It could be tame. Wait out there and see if it will let you approach. That worked for me. I walked right up to it and it jumped on my hand, just as tame as could be.
You could try tossing a sheet over it while it is at the feeder. Or, put the feeder on the ground if that would be easier. That's all I got and I really don't think it will work.
I hope you catch him, I've heard winters are brutal in Nebraska (I've never seen snow, I grew up in southern California), a parakeet won't survive the cold.
Good Luck.

To make sure it is a parakeet check and see if it is kinda fat but small. Anyways, well it is eating or drinking go over and cup your hands around it. Find a pic on the internet of the bird, then send it to me, I will tell you if it's a parakeet or not. Here is a picture of a parakeet for you to make sure:

Then go to your vet and get it tested for mites and stuff, ask him what you need, stuff like that.

Open a window in to your house and put some millet spray inside so that the bird can see it. When the bird goes indoors close the window behind it. They are seed eater and love millet spray.

They normally aren't that friendly unless you work with them so i would be careful because birds can carry diseases

It may be a finch. They do resemble parakeets.
