You sound like you are lying. As to all those people who had truly hateful things to say to you, their responses were worse than your strange statement. It is shameful that people would actually want you to kill yourself, or be beaten because you are gay. I think that is ridiculous. So much for tolerance, freedom of choice and so forth. You go right on showering with whomever - your military service (if you are telling the truth) has nothing to do with the issue - so don't involve it.
