We are also supposed to be getting these in Scotland, we already have 3 bins! We just take our glass to the bottle banks when we go to the supermarket, I would honestly prefer to keep doing this rather than receive yet another coloured recycle bin.

Wish we could have one in Falkirk Council. Mind you, I'm having enough trouble getting them to empty any of my bins at the moment! Don't you find it really annoying when you recycle stuff, fill up the bin, and - because you're being conscientious and recycling - have more stuff than there is room in the bin, so wrap it up in a black sack, and then the council refuse to take it because it's not in the bin?? Arrrrggghh! We've not even had a brown bin collection since we were given the bin several months ago. I can't see how they'll manage to cope with glass bins as well as the other three bins we already have!

It's up to the Local Council's to decide what can be recycled and what the bins look like.
Where I live there are small green rectangular bins for general recycling (glass, tins, cardboard, newspapers) and green wheely bins for garden waste (grass clippings).
In the next Council area they have got black rectangulr bins for general recycling, green wheely bins for garden waste, and brown buckets for kitchen waste.

in Bristol we have the usual weelie bin for general rubbish, in addition we have a black bin for glass and tins and also a brown bin for food waste. Our main weelie bin is now only emptied fortnightly, the others weekly.
Needless to say, this was introduced in June when temperatures are nice and high and many people only used their weelie bins. You can imagine the stench on some streets.
There have also been reports in the press of councils employing bin supervisors to check which households are not using the bins correctly. You can be sure a system of fixed penalty fines will follow shortly

We don't have any bins. We have black sacks for non-recyclable, and clear for recyclable. Then we have green boxes for glass and paper. It's getting really confusing, as we have normal collection on a monday everyweek, but recyclable stuff is collected every other thursday. But Its easy to lose track of what week they do the recyclable stuff !
By the way..you're a bit of a honey !

England is a nutcase country. Japan is a version of England on steroids. You people always go around making stupid laws, and recycling over there is stupid too. You go for compost, glass and such, but in many places plastics are not considered recyclable in any way. That doesn't make sense. In California, loads of those types of things are recycled.

Depends on where you are in the country. Our council already collects glass for recycling and has done for nearly 2 years
