While you are pregnant, you should eat a balanced diet from all of the food groups.
Your growing baby needs a considerable amount of calcium to develop. If you do not consume enough calcium to sustain the needs of your developing baby, your body will take calcium from your bones, decreasing your bone mass and putting you at risk for osteoporosis.
The U.S. Recommended Daily Allowance (USRDA) for calcium is 1200 milligrams (mg) per day for pregnant and lactating (breastfeeding) women over age 24. The USRDA for women under age 24 is 1200 to 1500 mg. of calcium per day.
The body absorbs iron more efficiently during pregnancy; therefore it is important to consume more iron while you are pregnant to ensure that you and your baby are getting enough oxygen. The USRDA for iron is 30 milligrams (mg) per day for pregnant and lactating women.

plenty of veg, especially green veg so you can ensure you are getting enough folic acid which is what is needed to help baby develop and avoid getting spinia befidia. you get pretty much stick to your normal diet but avoid nuts, soft/blue cheeses, pate, seafood, too much vitamin A, etc. ask your midwife if you're unsure or i bought a book by johnsons called mother and baby which was really good it advises you on everything and tells you all the stages your baby goes through and even has advice for after birth and first aid section too. i never put it down its great!

Hopefully you are attending antenatal and will know if the iron levels in your blood are ok. You need iron and calcium etc as the baby will be taking what it needs from you to grow. You need to replenish your body for the health of both of you!!Eat plenty of fresh fruit and veg, esp dark greens, drink milk, eat yogourts for the calcium and protein, fresh lean meat/ fish. Also dont smoke or drink alcohol or take any substances { that's if you do of course by any chance!!}even meds without checking first.

The same thing you would eat any other time ... lean meats (if you're not vegetarian), fruits and vegetables, whole grains.
Eat good foods all the time, not just when you want to make a healthy baby. After all, you need to make a healthy mom for your baby!

Not a medical person, just had 2 babies thats all. I would talk to your Doctor but milk, fruit and veg and I'm assuming your still on the Folic Acid tablets. If your diet is poor (like mine was) I was taking Pregnacare tablets too. Good luck. Get your rest too. (Steer clear of the ciggies, and alcohol...sorry)

Fruits, veggies, breads, eggs, milk, lots of water and juice. Also, do pilates...the light work outs and yoga for preganant women. I had an extremely easy preganancy and wasn't even big. I didn't start showing till my last two months. I only gained 22 lbs and I'm 5'1 in height. I also lost the weight pretty much that week after...

Anything you want as long as it's healthy. Stay away from lunch meats, hot dogs, uncooked seafood, and lots of caffeine. Other than that eat up, you'll need the extra energy and you're baby will thank you. And don't forget your vitamins too. Good luck and congrats!!!

Lots of fresh fruit and veg, but your doc will advise he might tell you to take extra vitamins, also plenty milk for growing bones. There are also certain foods you should avoid like pate, raw eggs, certain cheeses, alcohol and smoky environments. Good luck.
