Personally, I think it's sick and cruel. Those involved in it should be punished.

New Mexico
Louisiana
26 States make it a felony to organize or participate in cockfighting
38 States make it against the law to be a spectator

The violence. The folks watching it transfer their anger and frustration onto the roosters in cockfights and receive validation for a victory, which reaffirms a man's masculinity.

i attended a cockfight when i was in the philippines. everyone had theirs out, trying to get a rise out of them. turns out, mine was bigger. little known fact: after the fight the loser is taken home and made into soup

seems like one of the last remaining animal bloodsports out there. like so many other things, the activity should die out and be left where it belongs. in the past.
