Let me make this clear I am not bashing ANY of the services, but from a better standpoint than my dad was _____ . Do you prefer the Army, Marine Corps, Air Force, or Navy? Give me something good to use like a history of their battles or whatever.

Also don't waste your time bashing the forces because I WILL report you without hesitation.

As promised I have already reported one user for abuse. Other than loving the questions...BTW Top Gun is a Navy operation.

Better as in: You prefer their history of service such as the USMC in WWII, Army in Vietnam, etc.. Or, you have served with them, even your family members have, but elaborate on their service such as training, time abroad..... Details like that

If you look at "better" from a training perspective, the Air Force has the other services beat -- hands down. They spend a much higher percentage of budget on training than the other services, and the skills they teach tend also to have the highest level of civilian application (obviously, in the airline industry, but by no means limted to it. Also in the fields of computers and high tech applications).

The Air Force also tends to spend a great deal more on Quality of Life for it's people. Air Force installations tend to be better maintained, and the Air Force housing is usually a great deal better as well. They also are far, far more supportive of Airmen who seek to further their educations than the other services.

If you're judging "better" by esprit-de-corps, nobody can touch the Marines. Because they are the smallest of the branches they tend also to be the closest knit. I've never heard anybody ever say, "Once a soldier, always a soldier." But I can't tell you the number of times I've heard, "Once a Marine..." The idea of the uniqueness is drilled into Marines, and as a group, they truly believe in the motto, "Semper Fi." No other service can offer a sense of "Belongingness" like the Corps.

If "better" means history of glorious service, well, probably the Navy and the Army are tied; but I'd have to lean on the side of the Army, as no objective assessment of American history can possibly denigrate the unique and indispensable services of the Army since the days of Washington. It's really simple: NO ARMY = NO NATION.

No service can boast the numbers of heroes that the army can claim. From Valley Forge to Bastogne, from Little Round Top to the Battle for Tikrit, it's been an Army show. for sheer "power and glory" nothing comes close to the Army.

I don't know if this is what you're looking for; but I hope it helps.

US Army of course, been there done that ... got the tshirt!! It is the all around player on an outstanding team. The Air Force are mostly more technical but allot less head on than any of the other forces. The Marines focus more on there infantry and physical prowess than there technical thinking. The Navy................ well I am not sure what they do any more, I mean they did help out with the Iraqi/Afghanistan Navy. Without trying to bash them the only ones from the navy that really seem to contribute direct on are the SEALS. The Coast Gaurd well , they dont even leave the U.S.! The U.S Army on the other hand is the all around player and handles most of the work load. The Marines tours last only about 6 months and they went into Iraq the same time as we did(I know I was there for the initial invasion, as well as a 2nd tour in 2005, HOOAH 3rd ID 2nd BCT!!!) and yet the Army's rotations are a year or more. The Air force well are looking extremely lost on the ground and in the ****!! The Navy except for the SEALS fll into the same category. The Coast Gaurd ties yellow ribbons around the trees for the rest of us and look real pretty in there dress uniforms. The Army/ Marines simply are the main body of the US military with a little support from the others. But when it comes down to it the Army does more by time spent in combat alone. But we all in the Armed forces no matter what provide the U.S with what it needs , the brains, brawn and big MFing guns pointed at everyone else so we can kick back and have a beer and enjoy our kids in peace.

Marine Corps always. The history is way too long to go into here, but I can tell you that the history and traditions are a strong motivating factor when things get tough. I'd like to add though that I have high regard for all branches. Each has contributed in their own unique way in the defense of this nation.

Navy of course. They've got the best of all the worlds: Battleships, destroyers, their own airforce, subs... then there are the SEALs. Course, their football team sucks, but... meh.
