Here is info on the breed, for the first answerer who said there is no such thing.
For the poster of the question: Good luck. These great dogs have a bad reputation and many terrible laws against them

I'm pretty sure there is a breed called a pitbull. Co. Down is in Ireland so perhaps you don't have them on your side of the pond kja63.
sorry i'm of no help to the questioner though. Why are they trying to take your dogs?

Don't just get a pit bull judge to fight your case, get a canine behaviour specialist too. If your dogs act differently from a pit bull, if you get a properly qualified specialist, that can strengthen your case.
Heres the address for the Association of Pet Behaviour counsellors, they have specialists who have worked in the legal system.
Even if your dogs are pit bulls, all you have to do is have them microchipped and neutered, so just do that and you won't have a problem.

Where did the first poster come up with the idea that there is no such breed as a pitbull?? There definitely IS. And it is different from the Staffordshire.

I agree, they would not be attempting to take your dogs if you had not been ticketed for the dogs. If you can not control your dogs then they can be dangerous. There is no state in the union that can take your dogs unless you broke the law,by not being a responsible dog owner. The dogs must have been a threat to public safety. The Pit bull is not for pet owners. They are for fighting. This is not the dogs fault.

Here they have made it a violation of civil rights to take the dog unless it has a history of violence many areas are now allowing them. However they have not taken the law to ban them off the books. I think they keep it on there to stump many people especially those without funds to fight it.
