There are strict rules governing the use of the whip, such as overuse and the force used. Jockeys are not allowed to hit the horse down the shoulder and if marks are found on the horse after a race the jockey will be brought up before the Stewards. If a jockey receives more than a certain number of bans relating to whip offences they are sent back to the British Racing School for a course on how to brush up their riding skills and how to use the whip effectively.
The whip is an aid for correction not punishment, as said above, anyone who has ridden a horse knows that sometimes a whip is totally necessary.

Because depending on how the whip is applied makes a difference. It's not unheard of to shake the whip at a horse without *hitting*. Further...not all horses speed up after being hit. Some quit. Some it makes no difference...some it's a message to get down and get to business. It depends how they're trained.
There is *NO* way to hit a horse often, hard enough to *MAKE* them run faster than they are capable of running. They are limited by their body, heart and determination. A horse that doesn't want to win won't no matter how much talent is there. There'd be a lot less cheap claimers and a lot more Derby and Breeders Cup horses if a whip made a low level horse run faster.

Well maybe if you had a horse you would understand it is not done as a puinshment or to hurt the horse. It is done to train them to make sure they do as they are told as to not get yourself in danger. I would never whip my horse for any other reason then it is not behaving it self or need a little bit of go in it then you just lightly tap them. If you did anymore then that is being cruel to your animal and you don't deserve to have it. Unless a horse has been beating with a whip they really don't care otherwise they would be scared and throw you off. Maybe you should learn about the animals before asking such a stupid question!!

What i could do is seize a crop and place it contained in the horse's stall or paddock. leave it there until eventually the horse has calmed down. whilst the crop is in there, in line with possibility provide him treats, provide him a groom- attempt to calm him down besides you may:) provide him an excellent sort of compliment! he will in all probability be very demanding for the 1st few situations you are trying this- yet at last he will come to affiliate the sight of a whip with pats and treats:) After he does not strategies the sight of the whip. start up preserving the whip once you circulate into the stall or paddock, and compliment him returned. If he continues to be very demanding- basically walk around outdoors his stall preserving the whip until eventually he gets bored and forestalls demanding approximately it. at last you would be waiting to take it interior with him. After that step, it somewhat is all approximately giving compliment WITH the whip. turn the crop around and scratch the horse's wither with the cope with, run the whip throughout his physique, giving him scratches and treats each and every of the time:) as quickly as he's positive with that, you may start driving him with it. do no longer use it, do no longer even develop it up. enable it lay against the horse's shoulder- consistently praising him. it somewhat is going to take a protracted time- and an excellent sort of situations once you think of he will not at all cool down. yet wait and notice, and shop going. Be consistent with the compliment. you're able to do a similar ingredient with a lunge whip:) yet i could start up with a small crop. much less frightening. yet another ingredient that would help is working ropes and different weighty gadgets over the horse's physique to desensitize him to stuff touching his physique. solid success:)

horse is animal, if u know how to train animal, u will understand, what is whip used for. but, if u whip the horse too crazy, the horse will not be respond to the whip next time, because they get used to it, not afraid of the whips. whip is for telling the horse do i told u to do, otherwise , u get hit. good horses never like to be whiped, very high self-esteem, arrogant.

a whip is an artificial aid used to modivate the horse. sometimes i just carry around a crop (whip) just so my horse can see it. if i need to use it, i only tap my horse to get his attention. if he does not listen or is really bad, then i will actually give him a whack.
i have also been whacked with whips by my riding friends (not in an abusive way). sometimes it hurts, but not real bad.
