I know a lot of people have seen this in the past but I figured I would post it again cause I like the message in it....

A conversation between a Father and Son
Body: The other day, my nine year old son wanted to know why we were at war ..My husband looked at our son and then looked at me. My husband and I were in the Army during the Gulf War and we would be honored to serve and defend our Country again today. I knew that my husband would give him a good explanation. My husband thought for a few minutes and then told my son to go stand in our front living room window.

He said "Son, stand there and tell me what you see?"

"I see trees and cars and our neighbor's houses." he replied.

"OK, now I want you to pretend that our house and our yard is the United States of America and you are President Bush."

Our son giggled and said "OK."

"Now son, I want you to look out the window and pretend that every house and yard on this block is a different country" my husband said.

"OK Dad, I'm pretending."

"Now I want you to stand there and look out the window and pretend you see Saddam come out of his house with his wife, he has her by the hair and is hitting her. You see her bleeding and crying. He hits her in the face, he throws her on the ground, then he starts to kick her to death . Their children run out and are afraid to stop him, they are screaming and crying, they are watching this but do nothing because they are kids and they are afraid of their father. You see all of this, son....what do you do?"

"Dad?"

" What do you do son?"

"I'd call the police, Dad."

"OK. Pretend that the police are the United Nations. They take your call. They listen to what you know and saw but they refuse to help. What do you do then son?"

"Dad.......... but the police are supposed to help!" My son starts to whine.

"They don't want to son, because they say that it is not their place or your place to get involved and that you should stay out of it," my husband says.

"But Dad...he killed her!!" my son exclaims.

"I know he did...but the police tell you to stay out of it. Now I want you to look out that window and pretend you see our neighbor who you're pretending is Saddam turn around and do the same thing to his children."

"Daddy...he kills them?"

"Yes son, he does. What do you do?"

"Well, if the police don't want to help, I will go and ask my next door neighbor to help me stop him." our son says.

"Son, our next door neighbor sees what is happening and refuses to get involved as well. He refuses to open the door and help you stop him," my husband says.

"But Dad, I NEED help!!! I can't stop him by myself!!"

"WHAT DO YOU DO SON?" Our son starts to cry.

"OK, no one wants to help you, the man across the street saw you ask for help and saw that no one would help you stop him. He stands taller and puffs out his chest. Guess what he does next son?"

"What Daddy?"

"He walks across the street to the old ladies house and breaks down her door and drags her out, steals all her stuff and ets her house on fire and then...he kills her. He turns around and sees you standing in the window and laughs at you. WHAT DO YOU DO?"

"Daddy..."

"WHAT DO YOU DO?" Our son is crying and he looks down and he whispers, "I'd close the blinds, Daddy."

My husband looks at our son with tears in his eyes and asks him. "Why?"

"Because Daddy.....the police are supposed to help people who needs them...and they won't help.... You always say that neighbors are supposed to HELP neighbors, but they won't help either...they won't help me stop him...I'm afraid....I can't do it by myself Daddy.....I can't look out my window and just watch him do all these terrible things and...and.....do nothing...so....I'm just going to close the blinds.... so

I can't see what he's doing........and I'm going to pretend that it is not happening."

I start to cry. My husband looks at our nine year old son standing in the window, looking pitiful and ashamed at his answers to my husband's questions and he says...

"Son"

"Yes, Daddy."

"Open the blinds because that man.... he's at your front door... "WHAT DO YOU DO?"

My son looks at his father, anger and defiance in his eyes. He balls up his tiny fists and looks his father square in the eyes, without hesitation he says: " I DEFEND MY FAMILY DAD!! I'M NOT GONNA LET HIM HURT MOMMY OR MY SISTER, DAD!!! I'M GONNA FIGHT HIM, DAD, I'M GONNA FIGHT HIM!!!!!"

I see a tear roll down my husband's cheek and he grabs our son to his chest and hugs him tight, and says... " It's too late to fight him, he's too strong and he's already at YOUR front door son.....you should have stopped him BEFORE he killed his wife, and his children and the old lady across the way. You have to do what's right, even if you have to do it alone, before its too late." my husband whispers. THAT scenario I just gave you is WHY we are at war with Iraq. When good men stand by and let evil happen son, THAT is the greatest atrocity in the world. "YOU MUST NEVER BE AFRAID TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO DO IT ALONE!" BE PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN! BE PROUD OF OUR TROOPS!! SUPPORT THEM!!! SUPPORT AMERICA SO THAT IN THE FUTURE OUR CHILDREN WILL NEVER HAVE TO CLOSE THEIR BLINDS..."

This should be printed in every newspaper and posted in every school in America. Of course that won't happen so we'll use the interne

That's the best damned reason I have heard yet for why our men and women fight and die for this country. Everyday I look around and I am thankful for a family who has always answered the call to support our freedoms even when those we protect bash our soldiers. God Bless and Hooah!!

Except if the parent related the story accurately, dad would have told the son that a neighbor reported men in the house across the street with guns, and the police got a search warrant, and burst in with a SWAT team, only to subsequently discover they're in the wrong house and now can't get out without a shootout and many getting killed, hurt and maimed. And while this is happening, the guys who are the biggest threat to the neighborhood are still in business and able to function with greater freedom than before because the police are overcommitted to the first house - a house with a bad man that lived there - but not the same bad men that we were after in the first place.

I got the message clearly, However like George Bush you prefer fairy tales, tell the kid the truth..

SAUDI HIJACKERS attacked America
George Bush being a coward and friends with the Saudi's attacks a beaten and broken Iraq under the lie there are WMD's (Why doesn't he invade North Korea they have nukes the willingness and ability to use them, Attack Iran!)

When no WMD's were found he quietly has his administration admit it then uses the lie that Iraq sponsored Al Quaeda

When no Al Quaeda are found he uses the lie he is spreading democracy, However they don't want homosexual marriges, drug addicted uneducated children,
uncontrolled crime and American corporations plundering their countries resources. While theirs is not a perfect society it has been around longer than ours and works for them.

That under pressure from the world to withdraw troops Bush now claims Iraq would fall into a civil war, Except the problem is Iraq IS IN A CIVIL WAR!

That people are being raped and killed in other parts of the world but since they have no oil we are not interested.

However as fairy tales go it falls right in line with Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, Warm and fuzzy with no basis in reality!

The question is do you get the message?

OK Saddam is jerk, I think everyone agrees with that, But what about the other dictators in the world????? There are dictators in this world that make Saddam look like a pushy girls scout peddling cookies, Why didn't we go get them??? Ill tell you why Because they don't have as much oil, they didn't offend the presidents daddy, and there tough, and Bush and Co. being the bully's that they are aren't going to go after someone who could put up a real fight. I Love love this country, but we need to realize its time to mind our own business.

And then what does the son do when he discovers that the father was lying? You seem to have completely avoided any mention of WMD's. The WMD's were the reason Georgie gave for invading Iraq. We now know for a fact it was a complete LIE.

The son in question belongs in foster care!

Saddam was put in power by the united States. Nobody cared about the people he was killing until he got uncooperative about the oil. The war is about oil and land domination.
Obviously, the family in your story was white because most black people in America are used to watching people get dragged out of their homes and beaten - by the police and by each other, (because of frustration at the life they have been given.) The us has waged an undeclared war against poor black people for centuries now. Why don't we talk more about this?

LOOOLL... this is VERY funny!! So it's a coincidense that the country that Bush decided to help is filled with oil and is located in the middle east!! LOOOLLL... man.... you are SO funny... I can see through your skull cause your brain is washed clean!! Hahahaha
Printed in schools? LOOLL
So what about the poor countries in Africa? They've been having civil wars for ages now... maybe your window that's overlooking them is dirty!

I agree with supporting our troops. My dad used to be in the army, he was in for 20 years.
But if we were going to war to find WMDs that weren't there, I have to withdraw my support from the leaders of this country. It's horrible that our troops are still there.

i have to quote someone here:

anthrotistic:

What a load of S H I T. You're risking your life so Bush can line his pockets with OIL profits. You're such a sucker.

maybe you can't see it but I hope 'your son' sees a little bit of oil on you neighbours hands.......
oil, hmmm, won't think bush would invaded iraq without the prospect of billions of dollars.......what you said is correct, in this little story but you don't have real realiable facts to stand on......
is this always your kind of way to persuade people of your thoughts? I saw a movie on video google about an american man who went to school and gave lectures about the dangers of evolution and about lies that everythings 'they' said isn't true, like darwin and so on.....this man also said story's like you of his own life but didn't give real realiable facts, what do people do? they believe his little stories and believe that everything is a lie.....etc. etc.
well some say americans are retarted, well some are I think, if we may believe questions and stories like you wrote here
I don't have respect for you opinion but I understand why you say this

my question also is, why doesn't america help africa then? why don't they help lebanon now? if they are so powerfull like you think? maybe you have to say to your son that kids in africa are forced to kill their own parents, to cut of other kids lips and tongs if they don't kill someone..........remarkable and strange that America doesn't help there, don't you think? hmmm, not much oil in Africa either.......
