I believe that all human beings should have religious freedom (including the freedom to convert).

Cordially,

this is a very very sensitive social issue. please be aware that the term conversion and the term apostasy is not the same.

Several religious groups punish apostates and is not just Islam. According to international law, the United Nations Commission on Human Rights, considers the recanting of a person's religion a human right legally protected by the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights: "The Committee observes that the freedom to 'have or to adopt' a religion or belief necessarily entails the freedom to choose a religion or belief, including the right to replace one's current religion or belief with another or to adopt atheistic views [...] Article 18.2 bars coercion that would impair the right to have or adopt a religion or belief, including the use of threat of physical force or penal sanctions to compel believers or non-believers to adhere to their religious beliefs and congregations, to recant their religion or belief or to convert." (CCPR/C/21/Rev.1/Add.4, General Comment No. 22., 1993).

There is no bar in religion conversion in any religion except Islam. If someone is a Muslim he has to remain a Muslim till death. Conversion to any other religion for a Muslim in his life time is accompanied by severe punishment of death.

Yes.

But then, religions will become more materialistic offering prizes to those who convert to them.

and imagine the annoying calls when you're eating dinner to change your afterlife service. At least with Jehovah's and Mormons you can answer the door naked to get rid of them.
