I think they should at least pay a portion of the cost because they have been proven to prevent STD's and pregnancy. (For the most part anyway) They cover other birth control methods, so why not?

It's an interesting question, but technically speaking, it's an over-the-counter device. Insurance companies tend to only cover those items that are prescribed. Prescriptions for condoms went the way of the Edsel a long time ago, which I think is a good thing. Pay to play, that's what I say.

Condoms are relatively cheap. You can get a box of them for under $10. Your insurance co-pay is probably way more than that. If that is the case, you would be wasting your time in filling out a claim form. Believe me, I would rather pay the $10 for a box of jimmies vs. having my insurance rates go up due to increased risk.

From my knowledge, condoms are usually provided with no charge by most hospitals. Try your local Planned Parenthood.

If you have a Flexible Spending account through work you can buy condoms tax-free!

condoms are free at places like planned parenthood and im pretty sure they arent that expensive. healthcare has more important things then cheap condoms to worry about.

if you cover a condom with a health insurance policy your partner may find things a bit uncomfortable, eh? and the print might come of due to the fluids

not really as they are not 100 percent and they tell you that. it doesn't protect you from diseases if there is a break in them.
