I don't think they are allowed to do it in the US.
Anyway, why would they? Think about all the work to catch the cat, and they don't have too much meat, plus the local laws, so why bother?

I was told that Chinese restaraunts used cat meat when I was little but I'm sure that was a prank so no.. I don't think cat is allowed here in the US...

I would suspect so. There was a Chinese restaurant where I live that got reported to the health department b/c a cat tooth was found in someones meal. It was all over the news. The restaurant closed for a while, but it has since re-opened.....still a Chinese restaurant but under " New Management"......yeah, right!!!

Chinese restuarants in all over the world should not use cat meat, but restaurants in small unknown cities in mainland China may use cat meat illegally.

There was an article about a year ago about a very famous chinese restaurant in NY that was shut down because dead cats were found cut up in the dumpster behind the restaurant. It was a big thing because so many celebrities had frequented this restaurant.

i can not come out with one reason that why people keep thinking they use cat meat in chinese restaurant. why would they use cat meat,come on!!!! chicken are way cheaper and taste better than cat! why bother cat. i tired of people ask that stupid question all the time.

I know its hard for u to believe it .. The fact is TRUE... DOG OR CAT meats .. its part of the culture .. I saw it with my own eyes when i was in Malaysia in chinatown .. it was for real .. I thought it was a hoax.. But it was not A HOAX... As long it taste good to you that u may already eaten cat or dog meats.. I go to a very very very expenisve chinese restaurant to avoid cat and dog meats...

Im a Malaysian chinese and I ain't see or eaten any cat or dog meat before...for God sake I havent even heard of anything like tat before...

You have to be careful, because some Chinese restaurants do!!!
There wuz this one not that far from were i live that got busted for using real cat meat.
but it is not vary common to come across this problem. i think that it should be safe to eat at a Chinese restaurant.

I have heard that one too! Actually I don`t think so in the United States, but when I was in Japan I heard they did and we alerted to look for an big A letter in the window but I should think that in the U.S.A. they have a regulation notice that has been posted in their restaurants.
