Just to piss you off. The weather Gods hate you. They have tasted your barbque and don't want you doing it any more. You might just be a public health danger.

Ha! Good question... (clearly must be an Englishman)

But the old 'Sod's Law' is a pretty relevant answer - though I'd have to agree with Zd Sr - you kinda EXPECT Monday to pretty much suck, weather-wise... or at least you hope it does coz it fits other parts of your mood. You are less likely to notice it being poor weather.

You'll have plenty of time to play with your toy, don't worry.

A few years ago my Brother-in-Law had everyone round for a BBQ and wasn't put off by the torrential rain that naturally followed the ceremonial 'lighting of the coals'. The dear ol' eejut simply moved the BBQ into his little shed (right in the doorway, anyway, with himself stood inside the shed happily cooking away as the thunder crashed). Meanwhile the rest of us stood under a gazebo thing.

We all had a really good time.

One of my last memories of him... and so very bloody English.

I did read a supposedly scientific reason for this once, about a build up of pollution from cars etc travelling to work. When it stops at the weekend, the natural weather is released.

I actually think this is rubbish!

Heat from vehicles, factories and so on increases evaporation of water. Lower activity cools air and allows moisture to condense out. More extreme in urban areas.

If we change the weekend to the middle of the week will the weather change as well?

It doesnt. You just take more notice of it at weekends...about 90% more notice. :)
