Here's my story about Spam. I went on a fishing trip once with friends and we couldn't catch anything. When morning come I pulled out my emergency Spam can. I heated it up on a open fire.
I took my kniofe out and split it three ways between us. It was the best meal we had all night to the morning. At 10:00 am we started to catch fish and the rest of the trip was succesful. I never thought I would have to use my Spam, but I brung it just in case we didn't catch anything, I was going to eat. In how to make a long story short, that Spam was steak Dude... you will be surprised how good it taste when your hungry.
My partner had actually cooked one of the bait fish over the fire since he was starving and stripped it down to the bone and we laughed so hard because that Bass shiner was a boneless skeleton about 3 inches long...lol

That is too funny - I was just thinking about Spam yesterday! I really was.
I haven't eaten Spam in a long time, but I like to slice it on the thin side, add several drops of oil in a skillet, then fry it about 2 minutes on each side. If you're into southern food, it's pretty good with grits.
Spam gets a really bad rap, but it's actually a pretty tasty food. On second thought, IS it a food? : )

We love it at my house. We make it in a twice baked potato type recipe. I created this one so there are no measurements. Bake 6 potatoes till done. cut hem in half lengthwise scooping out the skin. Put potato skins on a baking pan. The potato you scooped out can be put in a bowl.
To the bowl add about 1/2 cup of mayonnaise
1 onion
1 cup cheese (I like cheddar but any will work)
1 can Spam cut in bite size pieces
Mix well If it seems dry, add a small amount of milk, and put back in potato skins bake until tops are lightly browned in 350 oven. I have also added jalapenos, olives, mushrooms, you name it.

My mom used to make some great fried spam, she'd first coat the spam in flour, I guess so it would brown more, then fried it in oil, then she'd make a gravy with the stuff left in the pan and serve it with mashed potatoes.

I like it sometimes, but not often. I usually eat it on a sandwich with mayo and vidalia onions. Sometimes, I fry it and sometimes I just slightly heat it in the microwave. Either way is good when I want a Spam sandwich.

My mother-in-law serves it fried with lots of oil and on a daily basis to my husband. Since she gives us spam and chinese sausages every week, I cook it with a little Pam instead of oil. Then I place them on a towel to drain the oil. It's healthier and tastes better. My husband likes it pan-fried over white rice.
Maybe you can try making spam sushi. It's a staple to the hawaiian diet.

Put fried spam on a sandwich with melted cheese, onions, and if you wish tomatoes and mayo. My husband and I love that sometimes just for something different, and home made soup goes good with it too!
