that they may be, but if you are a vegetarian, you'll wanna check the label ingredients. Marshmallows are made with Gelatin (made from the boiled bones, skins and tendons of animals) yuck! There are vegetarian marshmallows , but i have never tried them.
The vegetarian alternative is called Agar-Agar, and is derived from seaweed. Another is made from the root of the Kuzu plant.

marshmallows are disgusting and shouldn't be mistaken as having taste if you, as a human, have any regard for the torture put into making that. the main ingredient in marshmallows that makes them gooey is gelatin. gelatin is made from by-products of the meat and leather industry, mainly pork skins, pork and cattle bones, or split cattle hides. which is created by prolonged boiling. so i don't think i'll be enjoying any, thank you, but you might want to think about it next time you do.
