Don't do the things that make you short of breath until the test.

You do not want to push yourself and cause a problem. If at all possible never be alone. (in case of an emergency)

It's reassuring to hear that you are getting an angiography to rule out coronary artery disease. There are literally 101 causes of chest pain and the most worrying one is of cause angina. You are getting the appropriate test and one will just have to wait for the test result. Bear in mind that there are forms of angina that is not caused by fatty deposit in your coronary arteries, and hence won't show up on angio. Your doctor will explain to you about that I'm sure.

In the mean time, keep taking your aspirin and use your GTN. If you get chest pain only on exertion then try not to exert yourself. More importantly however if you get chest pain at rest then either call for an ambulance bring yourself to an ER immediately. This could be unstable angina and will need prompt treatment. Take 300mg of aspirin immediately and also try your GTN.

Also stop smoking, cut down of the fat and do regular exercise (chest pain permitting).

If in doubt, see a doctor.

An angiogram is the way to find out. I had an angiogram which was relatively painless and I had blocked arteries, and latterly had a triple-bypass oeperation. If a GTN spray, and resting, doesn't relieve the pain it may not be angina at all, but an angiogram will show definitely the condition of your coronary arteries, and they, and you, can proceed from there.

Well.. you did not say what type(s) of test(s) were taken so I can just assume that several to include heart stress tests, lungs, etc etc.

Now.. as to what you can do until the tests results come back.. there is little you can do except TRY to get your mind off the test results coming back even though that is very difficult to do.;.. Remember that stress exacerbates pain in the chest. Thus, try to go to a movie or watch tv, etc.

Good luck and I will certainly be hoping that the tests come back and are due entirely to STRESS only.

Sounds like a form of angina, the tests will tell you though. Unless anyone has experienced the same as you on here, any advice isn't really going to help. Trust what the doctors will tell you

I presume the spray you are referring to is for angina? If this is the case then that could be what is causing the pains. The more you worry about it, the worse it will get so try to take your mind off it til your test results come back.

Chest pain can be caused by the muscles, the stomach and esophagus, and the lungs depending on location and type pain. Tumors or aneurysms in the mediastinum can also cause chest pain.

continue to take aspirin daily, use your nitroglycerin spray as needed, don't exert yourself too much or engage in strenuos activity, eat lots of fruit and veggies, low sodium intake; if chest pain ever becomes worse or lasts longer than "usual", go to the ER or call 911.

ps- continue to follow the above recommendations after your procedure.

you could be having anginal attcks.all you can do is what you are at present until youve had the angiogram which will show how the arteries are doing and if they are blocked then they will tell you the next step

sounds like it might be angina or something like that, take it easy until you get the other tests done and try not to worry too much although I know that's easier said than done.
