Trichomoniasis is a vaginal infection caused by a protozoan. The symptoms include itching, burning, odorous yellow to green discharge that is frothy. In men the infection usually shows no symptoms. It is transmitted by sexual intercourse. So you can get it from a man that has no idea he has it.

Trichamonas is a sexually transmitted organism, similar to Chlamydia or Gonorrhea. It is diagnosed with a pelvic exam and a culture on a wet mount slide. As the above poster mentioned, it is treatable with metronidazole, or Flagyl. Partners need to be treated as well.
