Because the health department is strict on food borne illness. certain foods will spoil quickly and grow in bacteria is by the millions per part.
Example a cake you bake today is no good in three days though some people in homes keep them longer, but the longer you keep it the more bacteria is growing on it and the bacteria actually crumbles the cake down to nothing.

because they spoil easily or maybe they dont sell as much as chicken and prawns..or because of the foot and mouth disease??
