Another yes here too! Heart attacks occur when your heart for some reason doesn't get the oxygen it needs for a period of time. There are things that can cause the vessels of the heart to spasm and for a split second close down the heart vessels and cause heart attack pain. Then there is the whole blocked artery thing. That usually happens over a period of time and as plaque builds up in the vessels the pathway gets narrower and regardless of what someones BP is...they're heading for a heart attack. High blood pressure adds to the problem by stressing the heart, making the vessels less elastic, causing kidney damage (which affects BP too). A low blood pressure is helpful but it ain't a completely safe insurance policy! Hope this helps. Jeff the nurse in Nashville.

The main symptoms of an impending heart attack are pain or pressure in the chest area, shortness of breath and pain in the extremities, often the left arm. High blood pressure contributes to arterial and heart disease which can lead to a heart attack. Change his diet, in consultation with his doctors. High blood pressure is highly influenced by the amount of salt in your diet. Cutback on salt to as little as possible. Also, eating foods high in potassium help to lower blood pressure. By the way, you might have meant that his blood pressure is 130/80 and sometimes 150/100.

Yes, very easily. anything that blocks off one or more of the arteries that bring blood to the heart will do it.

A chunk of Cholesterol or a blood clot are a couple examples.
