HIV needs to maintain a perfect tempterature to survive outside of the human body and since this is near impossible to do it usually survives less than 1 minute. your chances of contracting HIV from this experiance are slim to none, but there are other blood born diseases such as hepititas that you could be suseptible to. you should visit your doctor immediately, explain the situation, and ask to be tested and/or vaccinated for anything that you may be at risk of.

did you touch the blood without knowing or did you not know if the blood had HIV? Either way, you do need an opening in your skin for the virus to infect you. Or you would have to touch yourself somewhere that has an opening to your bloodstream (genitals, anus, eyes, nose, mouth) before the blood dries. HIV does not survive outside for very long, but Hepatitis can. Hepatitis can live on hard surfaces, in dried blood, for days, maybe even a few weeks, depending on the research you look at. And there is no vaccination or cure for Hepatitis C, so please, if you see blood, don't touch it! Ever! And see a doctor if you are still worried and get tested for peace of mind.

HI,
sorry to hear you are worried, and hope all turns out OK!
You didnt say if the blood was HIV pos. or not but guessing it was or was questionable at least, or you wouldnt be worried.

As long as it didnt get on your body anywhere there is a cut, scratch, abrasion etc that it could into your own bloodstream from there isnt much of a chance on getting it from what happened....
If you are suspicious at ALL plz wait a couple months then go get HIV tested, if its negative wait another 6 mos and get a re-test. If still neg. for HIV you can assume you are safe-but I would go for one more to make darn sure approx. one year after the incident occured.
hope this helps:)

do you know for sure it was infected blood? even when exposed to HIV, chances are low that you will actually contract it. there seems to be this belief that anytime your exposed to HIV, you will automatically contract it. this is not true. the only way the HIV virus would enter your bloodstream is through an open wound, so unless you had a small cut or laceration for the HIV to enter through, youll be fine. if you need more information, try these websites, theyre very knowledgeable:

trust me though, your chances are very low. these sites are only for informational purposes and your peace of mind. good luck

The only way you can get HIV is if you get it in a cut. If you use a dirty needle, or you have unprotected sex.You can not get it by simply toching blood. Unless, like I said you have an open cut or scrach on the same hand as you toched it with.

The only way you can get infected is if the blood got in your blood stream. So as long as you didn't have a big wound on you or you didn't drink the blood, you'll be fine.

You know how they told you that you could not get it from "kissing" well I think that, that was a LIE.

I think that the government had "alterior" reasons...perhaps they did not want to cause widespread panic, by telling people that they could get it from kissing...... DO THEY HAVE A CURE ?

HOPE IN CURES NOT WARS
