A heart attack is an electrical malfunction in the heart -- and it can be caused by several things -- the best way to prevent a heart attack is to eat properly and do aerobic exercise.

Eating properly means consuming the right amounts of protein and fiber -- while limiting fat intake -- cut down on red meats and pork -- decrease fatty substances such as butter, whole milk, and cheeses.

Aerobic activity for 30 or more minitues daily for 4 or more days each week helps to reduce the risk of a heart attack, too. To achieve the benefits, you'll have to do a little research, because that 30 minues has to be in your targed heart range (pulse range). This lowers the resting heart rate, and helps with blood pressure, too -- it makes the heart happy.

Increasing fiber intake is a good idea -- fiber helps to rid the body of the nasty cholesterols and cleanses the plaques that build up throughout . . . to a certain degree, anyway.

B-Vitamins have been shown to have great effects upon heart health.

Take the major antioxidants . . . vitamins A, C, E, K . . . maybe some alpha lipoic acid -- these help to prevent oxidative damage throughout the body.

the heart has it's own blood supply to feed the heart muscle. If the blood vessels fill up with plaque or have a clot of blood it's like a blockage. The blood can't get thru to where it is needed. The result is a dead area of tissue , it got no oxygen and died. Many like me take a baby aspirin daily and eat low cholesterol. Keep blood pressure controlled with meds.

a heart attack is caused by a lack of oxygen to the heart muscle. This is usually caused by blockage of arteries to the heart by plaque buildup or by spasm of the arteries. To minimize the risk of a heart attack:
1. control blood sugar- if you are diabetic
2. control blood pressure- by diet/exercise and medications if needed
3. control cholesterol level- same as #2
4. aspirin- as long as no contraindication
5. do not smoke
6. lose weight if overweight
7. do not take illegal drugs- cocaine can cause spasm of the arteries and thereby cause a heart attack

They say aspirin might help, low dosage 80mg once a day. Exercise, eat a low fat, low salt diet. Keep your weight in the approved BMI, (body mass index) Watch your cholesterol, blood pressure. Ask your doctor. Usually blockage of arteries, going to the heart, or just not enough blood getting to the heart, can be triggered by stress. To name a few...
