Shouldn't Christians only be concerned with the New Testament? To me, the OT is a very negative and angry read. Aside from a few vague predicitons of a saviour, what good does the OT serve in these modern times?

Moreover, since the OT is the mainstay of Judaism (and they do not believe Jesus is the Saviour), why do Jews allow Christians to consciencely misinterpret their holy text?

Why aren't Jews and Christians at war with eachother?

Valerie, et. al.

If that is true, why are the Jews at war with Lebanon (Muslims)?

Jesus said he came not to abolish the law, but to fulfill it. It would not be irrelevant until the Earth and heavens themselves passed away, and anyone who broke it would be answerable to God. So we still pay attention to it, following the spirit of the law if not the letter. I think the OT helps give us a more complete understanding of God. It is not as angry and vengeful as people say, and through it you can always see a God who is loving and willing to forgive his people. Just as in the NT, you can sometimes see a God that is far stricter than one might like. Besides a history, it shows us that God takes an active role in our lives, and that no matter how bad life gets, he is still there for us. There's a lot of beauty and wisdom in the OT, too. Try reading the Song of Songs, Proverbs, and the Psalms. I don't think the OT is necessary in order to be a good Christian, but I certainly think it helps and is worthwhile.

The Old Testament ( also called the Pentateuch) is the beginning of the story of mankind on Earth (for better or worse)and shows how mankind's image of God has changed through the ages. From a Kind CREATOR to an Angry and vengable God and slowly back to a forgiving God.We are not at war with the Jewish race because we are supposed to be keeping the word of their savior true and unblemished until they recognize Jesus as their true and only savior. And they followed their Rabbis at that time down the wrong road. Because the Rabbis were afraid of Jesus'
teachings and undermining their authority.

The people of the old testament were under the old law and God dealt with the wicket of the OT in an old school manner, IE floods, plagues, and turning people into salt an stuff. The New testament is the new law, Christ and His church. The Christians of today are not under the old law of the OT, but under the laws of the NT. The OT is still very important as it reveals the nature of Gods character, and is full of storeys of His people and their devotion to Him.

Muslims follow the Quer'an, no longer the recent testomony. Secondly, you're incorrect. Christians follow the old testomony greater because of the fact it somewhat is the muse for their faith, alongside with prophetic predictions touching directly to love, life, happiness, unhappiness, conflict, conflicts, exhilaration, Christ coming the 1st and 2d time, heaven, hell, the son of God, and parables. This additionally blanketed morals from the prophet Moses, and interactions with God with the Israelites, alongside with sacrifices and rituals, showing comparable issues or motives contained in the recent testomony, or the recent covenant. The Quer'an already has the final prophet in accordance to Muslims, so as that they be counted on that e book. the recent testomony says the certainty. a clean prophet will upward thrust up by utilising the call of Jonas. P.S.- And Jewish human beings strictly be conscious what's stated above contained in the old testomony, alongside with why and how we've been created. You lack wisdom of the two religions. i will admit that that's gloomy that at an excellent sort of Christians don't be conscious or comprehend the meaning and morals contained in the old testomony and nonetheless say they're known and comprehend the words of Christ ok. i think of I see what you are attempting to declare. yet regardless, greater Christians learn the old testomony than Muslims. that's mandatory for information the recent Covenant greater proper, because of the fact the old Covenant pertains to the knew one. maximum suitable needs.

The Old Testament provides the historical and cultural background for understanding the teachings of Jesus in His day. Additionally, there are recurring themes of self-giving and sacrifice in every OT book. The apostle Paul summarized it in the Old Testament proves that man cannot achieve righteousness on his own and therefore needed divine intervention for salvation.

Any writing that is held sacred by one belief system is open to rebuttal by another belief system.

Why SHOULD Jews and Christians be at war? There are no writings in either religion that mandate contemporary war against those of different belief systems. The injunction of peace is far stronger.

The Old Testament is the New Testament concealed. The New Testament is the Old Testament revealed. The Old Testament makes the prophesies and the New Testament fulfills the prophesies.

Why should Jews and Christians be at war with each other? You need to study you Bible more closely, especially the Old Testament.

What I have learned concerning your question is that the Old testament is the prophesy of the New testament and the New testament is the fulfillment of the old testament prophesy. Like a type and shadow. If you study both you will see how the old testament prophets for told of future events and How the New testament is fulfilling them, compare to what is happening in the world today and it will all make sense to you.

The old testament is foundational to understanding the new. they go hand in hand.

to this day the Jews are waiting for the messiah to return - christians just believe that he came already
Christians (many) also believe that the jews are chosen by God and He is not done, there are new testament prophesies that tell us about things yet to happen there. More recent history would also seem to say there is something about these people what other people can maintain their culture and identity for more than 2000 years with out a country - succeed every where they go - be hated every where they go. love them or hate them there is something to that

BEcause unlike Muslims, we get to choose our faith without fear. The Old Testament is important to the christians because it teaches us about our roots. It helps us learn from the mistakes of the past. There are beautiful truths found in the OT. There are also wonderul prophcies that confirm the NT and help us to see how God works today. You see God does not change...people do. We Christians do not misinterpret their holy text. We honor it and revere it as a part of the whole Bible. Together it gives us the complete plan of God for mankind.

The truth is Jews and Christians love each other because God is love.

The old testament has Jesus beginning on page one of Genesis. There are more than a few vague predictions. Try Psalm 22 for instance.

It is the history of our Savior's ancestors.

The OT is full of stories that prepare us for the parables of Christ.
Since He is the fulfillment of the LAW it is imperative that we learn what that LAW says.

To me the OT is a very positive loving read. Try Proverbs or Song of Solomon.
