I am trying to make a plantain dish other than a sweet dish and I know there are many uses for them - and I would like to make a different type of meal. Thank you in advance.

You could make mofongo or tostones with the "unripe" plantains. The sweet plaintains are called "Amarillos" in Puerto Rico. If you want a good dish with the amarillos try to make a "Pionono". I'm sure you could find some recipes for all of these items online. Buen provecho!

tostones

slice in coins, fry in 1/4 inch of oil until golden, remove from pan, put on paper towels, smash with bottom of heavy glass, put back in pan until darker, remove and salt.
