Every smoker out there can just kiss my grits. SMOKING KILLS, ITS A FACT. If you want to die miserably then you go and do it, but dont you dare force me to as well. Smokers are self-centered, greedy people and if you combine that with alcohol, then your really dealing with a nasty person. SMOKERS DONT NEED TO BE DOING IT IN PUBLIC PLACES, your car, home, designated smoking area should be enough.

There are a lot of people out there who like to shoot guns, but we dont let them go around with their guns in their pockets and shoot off whenever they feel like it, right? That's because guns can kill if in the wrong hands, that's why we limit their use.

We are on to the right idea by limiting smoking in public places, like it or not.

And WENCKEBRAT, chewing with your mouth open dosent kill anyone, please dont try to be cute or funny about this, cause it's anything but funny.

I think smoking should be banned every where. I smoked for 40 years and I still sneak one every once in awhile.

No one should be subjected to smoke in any way. They tried smoking areas and that didn't do any good. You can't get rid of that smell. Have you ever looked inside a house where the people smoke? It is scary!! It smells of stale smoke and you can
see the results of the nicotine on everything. Then they try to mask it with sprays or candles, which only makes it worse.

It has been proven the damage is there. Even when I smoked I didn't smoke around anyone that did not. I would also sit in the no smoking areas too. It's too dangerous. You can still smoke in your own home or car.

I almost forgot, I have COPD and I am on oxygen 34/7. I also use a nebulizer and take other meds for it. That is what it did to me.
That is not true. I did to myself.

I am glad they are finally banning smoking in all public places. It should have been done 20 years ago. Smokers should not have the right to pollute MY lungs! It now means that I can go places that I previously avoided because of the smokers. I still have a problem with smokers standing in front of the doors tho! Why should I have to walk through a cloud of smoke to enter a building? If I see them I usually will go somewhere else. I especially HATE to see doctors, nurses and respiratory therapists smoking. There is NO excuse for their bad behavior.

I'm thinking that people don't need any more government intrusion into their lives. A free market will decide if people don't want to hang around smokers. If there are people smoking in a particular place and it bothers me then I don't go there. Should they want to gain my business back, they will make some kind of accommodation. If I go to a bar or club I go there expecting people to be smoking and I'd be foolish and naive to think otherwise. I'm in health care and think that it's a horrible habit but I don't think that second hand smoke is the threat the press and trial lawyers make it out to be. There are states now that are taking the lawsuit money they made in those trials and investing it into tobacco companies. Whiny people are going to whine about everything they think is wrong and find someone to back them up...especially if there is money to be made. I say, keep the government and it's rules away from me and certainly out of my personal life.

Smoking should be banned in all public areas, I smoked for 35 years and have been smoke free for 2 years and 8 months and have become very sensitive to second had smoke. If people want to smoke, they should smoke where it cannot harm others (including outdoors).

When I was a smoker, it ticked me off when I could not smoke in places. And the smoking sections of restaurants were always tucked away and closed off, so you felt like a leper. Now that I quit, it is kind of nice being able to eat without the smell. My opinion is there is nothing wrong with smoking in bars, people should expect that when they go there, but keep the smoking section away from where I eat!

Public areas should not be smoking areas. There are many people who become sick when exposed to smoke and it is only courteous to refrain from activities that impact others in a negative way.

That being said, smokers do have rights too and there should be special areas for them to smoke.

Years ago, smokers were left alone to enjoy their habit.

Now the reasons... to keep trying to quite are more compelling than ever.

Research shows that the smoke blown your way from others' cigarettes can endanger health. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 out of every 6 deaths in the United States is related to smoking. About 18 percent of cases of low birth weight, premature deliveries, respiratory distress syndrome, and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) are linked to smoking during pregnancy.

The only way to avoid being exposed to the cigarette smoke of others is to go to places where smoking isn't allowed. such as a movie theater or the nonsmoking section of a restaurant.

Personally i think they should open up restaurant's clubs, bars , specific for smokers. I don't support there habit. Second hand smoke is more harmful , it is carbon monoxide that you breath in after they inhale the cigarette. So any smoke you smell affects you.
Cigs have thousands of chemicals , fiber glass, rat poison, plastic, bleach. Your body craves the chemicals you give it that why people get addictive, for example lots of people are addicted to fast food, lots of grease. You will be fine from the start but it catches up with you

I feel that I have a right to breath air free of the toxins in second hand smoke. Second hand smoke is far worse than the actual smoke the smoker is inhaler. Smoking in public is completely unaccetpable.
