Hunny, everything began with Power of The Mind. For those of you who have not heard of Napoleon Hill he was one of the early teachers of the power of the mind. The basic principle is that whatever your mind can imagine it can create. How does it do this? What your mind thinks, sees, believes, feels is all sent to your subconscious mind power. it's great partner. Your Subconscious then works with the universe and creates your reality based on the messages that began in your mind. But its not enough to simply imagine it and then hope it happens. That's not the way it works. If you can imagine it you can achieve it but you need to know how to use the power of your mind. Your mind can create wonderful things for you if you know how to use it and how to send the right messages to your subconscious. Most people don't know how to do this. Instead, you go through life never really using the power of your mind.

Did you know that doctors now firmly believe that 75% of all sickness and disease start in the mind? 75-Percent! That's a very large amount. That means that 75% of all the people who are sick today -- are only sick because they did not know how to use their mind. Doctors will even tell you that most sickness and disease are caused by stress. This is another event that starts in the mind. Scientists have long said that we only use 10% of our mind. 10-percent that's it. Think of going through life only spending 10-percent of your salary? Could you do it? No! Yet you go through life only using 10% of your mind. That 10-percent is creating 75% of all sickness because we don't even know how to use it properly. Now imagine if you just used 10% of our mind correctly? What would happen? What would happen if we learned to use 90% of our mind correctly? The results would be astounding! Your mind is an incredible power but no one ever taught you how to use this power. Throughout your entire life you've been taught how to do everything but no one ever taught you how to use your mind. Creating Power teaches you how to use your the power of your mind. I'm not saying that if you work with the Creating Power System you'll start using all of your mind correctly. But I do know that you'll begin using the power of your mind to its full potential and that is enough to create the change you want. Would you drive a car if you didn't know how to drive? No. You would have someone teach you. Why then would you try to use the power of your mind when you don't know how? Yet you do it everyday and you get the results that you don't want. If you want to change your life. If you want to use your mind correctly and utilize all its power then you need the Creating Power System. And it's completely Guaranteed!

I was with a severe depression for 10 years. 7 types of different anti-depression medication. No to mention Hospitalized many times for attempts of suicide.

Just remember one thing. Medication in today’s culture is set by people who want to sell them. " Is not like in old days " Dr's get a kick back from them, also medication can make you even more depress if you take to much or the wrong kind. It can affect you and many different ways.

You can do it, because I did it. I am Free of Medication and Worries.

Best.

The difference is not between severity like many of the others have said. The DSM IV-TR which is the diagnostic tool used by most mental health providers and is written by the APA (American Psychological Association) simply states that an individual must have a certain amount of symptoms in order to be diagnosed with a disorder. If they do not meet that prerequisite it means that they can labeled as a individual with personality trait. The important difference is that the DSM IV-TR does not put any value on the symptoms severity, a patient either has the symptom listed or doesn't. A person who may have a personality trait may have a symptom that is more severe than and individual who has been diagnosed with the specific disorder but because they do not have enough symptoms to meet the criteria for a diagnosis they cannot be diagnosed as having the disorder. I hope this helps

Borderline personality disorder has nine personality traits listed in the DSM four. In order to qualify for the diagnosis of BPD you have to show at least five of them for an extended period of time. Any less than five and you have Borderline Personality traits, but not the disorder.
It can also be used to describe someone who used to have the disorder, but has gone through therapy or just "grew out" of the full blown disorder but still has some of the traits.
Here is wikipedia with some information on the disorder.
By the way, it has NOTHING to do with the severity of the traits.

You know,....doctors are so good at 'diagnosing' you based on the things we tell them...I wonder if they ever tried to get to the root of why these things are happening to you, and why you act the way you do...most people who suffer from the diagnosis' you talk about, were treated pretty bad as a child, and developed different personalities to be able to deal with the situation...I know someone like this, but won't go to a doctor...and prefers to work...the toll it is taking on his loved ones is great, but, I just tell him I will pray for him, and let the Lord show him the way...he does not even know what he is doing, because when he gets stressed out, or a traumatic situation arises, he changes to this other nasty person almost like to deal with the situation..a habit that has been engrained and now has become a way of life..I am sorry you are going through things like this, and I pray that you will as Father God to help you through His son, Jesus, and pray for Him to show you the way....Learn how to forgive those that hurt you, because God says we have to, and that vengance is His alone,...and pray for mercy on those that have hurt us...it is hard some times, but when you really mean it, He takes aways the hurt...God bless you...You always have hope when the Lord is involved...

I have taken many anti-depressants, too. For me the best two are Abilify (for bipolar depression) and Lexapro for major depressive disorder -- severe, recurring. The deal with Lexapro is that I don't realize it is helping until I miss a couple of doses. Then I go to a very, very dark place -- suicidal thoughts, etc.
The main advice I can offer is to not give up! There are many meds on the market and it will take a while (maybe years) but eventually your doctors will find the right combination for you. Take care and Good Luck to you.

The real difference is the severity. Usually in mental health having a disorder means that the condition has a significant negative impact on your life or a portion of your life. Simply having traits or symptoms that do not interfere with your normal life is not a disorder. Most all people have some traits of one or more mental health issues but are able to set them aside well enough to function normally.

That's the way I understand it anyway. I live with bipolar disorder and have been doing a good bit of research on bipolar disorder and mental health in general. I you find a better or more accurate explanation, please contact me and let me know.

Sincerely,
Terry

If you have borderline personality traits, this means that you have symptoms that are consistent with Borderline Personality Disorder. However, your symptoms are not severe enough to substantiate the full diagnosis.

i think traits mean specific behavior while disorder means a mental state which includes specific behaviors.

I presume the latter is simply the traits of having it, but I'm not positive.
