It is difficult to not be embarassed by having a cold sore. I have had the virus which causes them since I was a young child. I used to get them so frequently, due to stress, that I have a scar near the side of my mouth from it. I actually had a friend who happens to be a nurse who is well versed in holistic healing recommend that I take an amino acid called L-Lysine. It actually is an amino acid which the human body produces naturally, but it is surpressed in production in a person who has the non-sexually transmitted herpes virus. You can find the L-Lysine in the vitimin and herbal department of any drug store, department store or supermarket which has a health section. I take 1000mg per day, and if I am going to be under extra stress, I will double the dose for a few days preceeding and after the stress filled time. If you have an outbreak, you can also crush one of the pills and put the powder directly on the sore, it will dry it up more quickly and take away that stinging feeling. You will want to do this in private, as you probably do not want to be walking around in public with white powder on your face, people will probably think you have a different problem! I have not had more than one outbreak in the past 6 months and that was only because I was away from home, and forgot to take some lysine with me. I used to get outbreaks every few weeks. Hope this works for you. Have a good day!

First, remember that genital herpes is a totally different form than that of a cold sore. If your only question is regarding the feeling of being embarrased then you should try some makeup. Yes, I know that this will sound weird or unusual to you because you are a man. However, movie stars and male news anchors rely on this very much to make their skin much smoother in appearance than it really is. Try going to the makeup counter and purchasing some concealer. This is something that is skin tone in color normally and you may be able to hide the blemishes somewhat. Just make sure you blend very well into the skin. Good luck!

Cold sores are so common, most people ignore them. If they ask, simply tell them that it's a cold sore, if not, don't be so concerned over them.
Sounds to me like they bother you more than they do, other people.
I have suffered with these over 50 years and now that I'm on meds, I rarely break out anymore, but when I do, I don't let them bother me.

Once I ate 36 oranges (seriously) and got a nasty blister-like outbreak. Sooooo, since I am not 13 any longer, I don't do that anymore - and I stay away from foods that are highly acidic - things that will promote the initial chemicals that mix in the belly are responsible for a lot of the minor outbreaks, going hungry and promoting low-sugar and acidity to build in the belly helps the outbreak even more.

Band-aids.
Lite makeup kit, to cover up some of the initial blemishes.
If you know you're going to be at least 20 feet away from the spoken crowd, makeup would help. Don't go to a .99 cent store to buy it - go to Macy's, and talk to one of their associates in that department (before the outbreak).

exceedingly, the respond that i locate premiere to that question is so lots greater hassle-free than human beings are making it, no offense, yet what I do (the chilly sore would desire to be long previous interior of 0.5 an hour) is get a cotton exchange, drench it in water, then upload as lots salt as conceivable until eventually the water no longer absorbs it, then (and that's painful) rub it violently (do no longer circulate nuts) against the chilly sore.

You shouldn't be worried about it. 80-90% of the population have it. If you get one go to the drug store and get Abreva. It should dry it up and make it go away quicker.
