Peanuts are in fact a legume, or a bean. They are eaten like nuts, but it is interresting to note that a lot of people who suffer from a nut allergy can eat peanuts, and that people allergic to peanuts can often eat nuts.

Its not a nut, it grows under the earth. It tastes like nuts and has similar nutritional values. People allergic to nuts are also allergic to peanuts.
