There has been several good answers...
Some of you have chosen to answer the question outrigt without delving into current geopolitics, whereas some of you have taken a path that inevitably led to the primary reason I asked the question in the first place.
I'm honestly quite impressed. I thank all of you for making my first Q experience on Y!-A thought provoking.
With that being said, I'm leaving it to a vote.

In MY opinion, we are currently IN a world war - against terrorism/Islamic terrorists. They have stated that NOBODY who is not a Muslim should be allowed to live. That incorporates a BIG part of the world. And, they are just crazy enough to be serious. Convert or die is their battle cry.

The biggest factor is when the strategic super-powers weigh in on either side. The second factor is when the world camps are split into two opposing forces.
Currently there are over 40 conflicts and wars in the world, but its not considered WWIII because they don't fit the factors mentioned above.

Today many can accept that America became enemies to many of the world nations due to their "over-handed" policy. So,if U.S wants to establish their military power in middle-east,China and Russia will not keep quiet. And thereby world war may start. The attack of Isreal,is a main indicator of world war 3.The western powers will join with America, and Russia-China-N.korea on the other side.So it will be a war between America and Asian powers.
