Ribbon Sandwich Loaf
Tuna Salad (tinted blue or lavendar)
Egg Salad (tinted yellow)
Crab Salad (tinted pink)
Loaf of bread, unsliced, with the crusts removed on all 4 sides and ends
Cream cheese
Mayo or sour cream
Butter
After trimming the crusts from the loaf of bread, slice it horizontally into 4 slices. Butter both sides of each. Lay the first on your serving tray and spread the tuna evenly from end to end. Lay on the next slice of buttered bread, then spread on the egg salad. Repeat with the last layer using the crab salad, then the last slice of bread on top of that. You should now have a long cube. Trim it up to make a perfect large cube.
Whip together cream cheese with enough mayo or sour cream to make it look like cake frosting. You can tint it or leave white. Then "frost" your sandwich loaf with it.
You can decorate using things like crushed nuts, pansies or nasturtiums, etc.
To serve, cut 1/2" thick slices so that every guest gets a pretty torte with each of the 3 salads as ribbons through the bread.

Warm Spinach Artichoke Dip
1 box frozen chopped spinach, thawed
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
1 cup shredded mozzarella
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
4 cloves garlic, crushed
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, plus more as needed
1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce, plus more as needed
1 (14-ounce) can artichoke hearts, drained
Carrot sticks, celery sticks or tortilla chips, for serving
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Squeeze all excess liquid from spinach, place in a food processor with sour cream, Parmesan, 1/2 cup of the mozzarella, the cream cheese, garlic, pepper and hot sauce.
Process until just blended but still slightly lumpy. Add artichokes and pulse to form a chunky mixture. Place in a 1-quart baking dish. Top with remaining mozzarella. Bake until bubbly, about 30 minutes.

Honestly, if you are having the shower for someone at home, do the food as easily as possible. Try to do little work. But set up a really nice table...table clothes, baskets for each item like the utensils.
Put a huge bowl of punch on one side [you can get a nice looking bowl at Party City] and a big basket of bread on the other (see below). Punch: Two bottles ginger ale, half gallon box breyers raspberry sherbert, quart of orange juice.
If you want lunch foods:
For example, buy the potato salad and macaroni salad at Walmart. I got that tip from a relative. They were good! Just buy a couple of containers of each, depending on the number of guests, and put them into nice bowls. Nobody will know.
Buy fresh breads that morning at the grocery store's bakery, like French, Italian, and packs of soft (small) Vienna or Kaiser rolls.
Cut the bread into diagonal, long slices and put all the breads into huge baskets right before the shower. Next to the basket, put other baskets with jars of pre-made spreads, like hummus and bean dip. Let the folks spread their own.
For the main course (middle of table), you can bake easy ziti [box of ziti noodles, container of ricotta, pack of shredded mozzarella, jar of no-salt spaghetti sauce]. First sauce in bottom of rectangular cake pan, top with layer of cooked noodles, layer of cheese (just sprinkle mozzarella, then spoon the ricotta around) then two more layers. Cover with foil, bake at 350 for an hour.
Buy the cake.
Hope this gives you ideas!

do yourself a favor and cater the food. you have more than enough work setting up the shower (assuming it's not for you) and executing the surprise. plus, the bride-to-be will have 87 or so gifts to take away from the party and who wants to handle food cleanup with gifts piled high and far.
a combo of light hot and cold platters is good. not too many though..about 2 hot dishes and 2 or 3 cold ones (salads always good)
chicken dish or cuban sandwiches and salads (keep it light) some ladies may want to drink.

Keep it simple and chic!
- get selection of fresh bread
- buy selection of pate/italian cured meats or like
- buy selection of fine cheeses
- find some interesting chutney
- buy apples, grapes and melon
something for everyone there...
by the way melon and parma ham is a lovely combination even though it sounds a bit suspect!!
