I'm afraid they'll be too slow - but I can see it being safer than a fuel burner.

If you are making chocolate or cheese fondue this will be fine. Just make your fondue in a pot on the stove and then right before guests arrive light the candle and put the fondue in. During the party stop by the fondue and give it a stir so it doesn't develop a skin on top. Be sure to cut food to be dipped into bite-sized pices and provide toothpicks to prevent double dippers and dirty fingers.
