You have a right to have your opinions and to make your own decisions about abortion.
So do I.

"At least that way the child will be able to live and not just die for no reason at all.
Rape would be another issue. I know if I was raped and then found out I was pregnant I don't think I could have the child. Going nine months with the constant reminder of what happened to you could emotionally drain someone"
You know how hypocritical that statement is?
Saying the fetus won't die for no reason at all but as if rape is a good reason? It's extremely conflicting. Are you for the fetus's life or are you for the mother's life? Because at first you were for the fetuses unless the mother is emotionally drained then the fetus doesn't matter...........
I am pro-choice politically whether she was raped, incest or just simply having an unwanted pregnancy she does not want to carry to term.
It is none of anyone's business and doesn't affect your life if a girl walking down the street you never met has an abortion.
She has a right and has a reason. No one has a right to judge her reason as they don't want their own judgments being judged.
I am a Christian too. Abortion isn't all about religion. Not everyone is religious and not everyone feels a mass of cells at 4 weeks along is a "fetus" or "living baby".
I am against 24 week abortions. The fetus is now a baby that can be born with in a few weeks after available on support of the hospital staff.
Anything less than 12-16 is justifiable.

Besides the fact that I'm christian, I believe it is morally wrong to murder someone, and I believe that a fetus or embryo is a person - a baby to be exact from the moment of conception. So I believe that abortions are not the way to go.
Aside from that they are performed in a brutal way, the woman that is having it done can usually feel that baby struggling and trying to get away. and the woman usually end up feeling terrible and have emotional issues after going through one. That's the part you don't hear from the abortion clinics - seems to be more of a money making program than anything else!
I feel that if someone is going to have sex, they should be responsible enough to deal with the consequences including getting pregnant. If they are not wanting to get pregnant, they should use a highly effective birth control or chose sterilization, or refrain for sex.

This is a loaded question and one that many people will differ in opinions on. Personally I think it is wrong. Play the game, pay the price. But then there are exceptions to every rule. Such as, incest, rape and the possibility of death to the mother or child. In these circumstances, exceptions should be made.
My own personal problem with this issue doesnt lie with the question of is abortion right but rather that the issue is ruled to lie in the hands of only the woman..."her body her right". This is complete junk! It takes 2 people to make a baby, so it should take 2 to get rid of it. If both people are against having the child then they can have the right to do that and take the responsibilities for thier decision. But it should definately not be up to the woman alone. Men have babies too.

Life is a miracle, and it should not be destroyed. There are many many people who would love to have a child, and they can't. Meanwhile, some women think of abortion simply as of another birth control method. That is very wrong. I am a new mother, and when I look at my baby and think that many other babies are being killed before they are born, it breaks my heart. They are so innocent, and there is no one there to protect them!
By the end of the twentieth day after conception the foundation of the child's brain, spinal cord, and entire nervous system will have been established. 6 weeks after conception brain waves are detectable. At nine weeks, the embryo's brain allows it to bend its body, hiccup, and react to loud sounds.
At week ten, it moves its arms, "breathes" amniotic fluid in and out, opens its jaw, and stretches.
Before the first trimester is over, it yawns, sucks, and swallows, as well as feels and smells. Having an abortion to end all this is a horrible horrible thing to do.
Yes, I agree, that there are situations when abortion is a better choice. For example, if there is something wrong with the fetus, or if the mother's life is in danger. Each situation is different. However, many (most?) pregnancies are being terminated only because the women decides that she simply doesn't want the baby.

I am a christian as well. Here's what I think:
It is tough, like you said, because the baby is living inside the mother, and its her body. But, think of it this way, if I can't tell anyone what to do or not to do, I can't tell someone not to pull out a gun and kill someone. Therefore, shouldn't murder be legal then?
You are also right in that the baby would not be alive if not for the mother, except in rape, SHE chose to have sex, if a person does not want a child, they should practice absistence, its the ONLY 100% guarenteed way NOT to get pregnant.
God Bless you!!

You have an open mind, good for you. Firstly, a fertilized egg is nothing more than a group of cells. It is called a blastula in the beginning, and a few weeks later a zygote. It is NOT a fetus, and so to remove it is not murder. (Abortion is only regarded as murder if that VERYdeveloped fetus could survive on its own -- as what happened with the Scott Peterson trial in California -- Lacy Peterson and her unborn child were both murdered. Connor was far enough along that to kill her meant he killed them both.) A zygote, has the POTENTIAL to become a fetus, just as you have the potential to learn Chinese, but that potential is a long way off. WE are all pro-life. But it makes no difference when life begins, or even what you choose to call life. Frankly, none of us is in a position to tell someone else what to do with their body. A zygote is a parasite -- it drains, and uses all the resources it can to better its position. But the lady carrying that zygote is a higher level of life than a group of cells. And she still has the right to determine if she wishes it to become a fetus. You and I will never know the circumstances under which she is carrying those cells: Incest? is she a druggie, and therefore that potential will be neurologically damaged? is she just 13? In other cultures, there is no problem with abortion -- it is the fundamentalist christians in this country who try to foist their religious ideas upon those who are not christian. This doesn't happen anywhere but here -- abortion is free on demand in Europe, China, Japan, Asia, India, most of S. America (which is heavily catholic I might add) Interestingly, you will never see someone protestor outside an abortion clinic here in the US with a placard stating "Don't destroy those cell. I will raise your incest baby, or I will raise your crack addicted baby." No no, they wish to push their ideas on her, even if she is in no position to deal with a crack baby, or a deformed baby. If her unborn zygote has spina bifida, should't she have the right to abort, and try next year for a child that will be a contributing member of society. Would you yourself wish to be born into a fragile body that didn't work, you wouldn't ever be able to walk, and your IQ was 40? Would you like to care for a thing that peed in its pants and pooped in them as well? It would never learn to walk or talk, never have any friends, and never, of course know the joys of marriage and a family. It would get to live its whole life in an institution. Would you like that to be you??? I think not. And other countries are way ahead of us on this one. Abortion, sweetie, isn't murder, by definition. Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy before the cells can become viable. Murder is to kill an independent human being ..... it's apples and oranges. And thanks for asking

I think you are on the right track. While I personally don't like the idea of abortion, God gave us free will and I don't believe the government should take that away from us in this case. This isn't like someone knifing someone in the back -which 99% of people believe is murder... this is a hotly contested subject that large groups of people cannot agree on.
Most people opposting abortion are doing so because of religious reasons - but the United States has no official religion -and should not have one- because we have a separation of church and state. Remember, the pilgrims came over here to escape religious persecution. If we made Christianity the official religion, we'd have pilgrims with a different religion escaping from the U.S. to elsewhere!
So, although I think it's fine to personally disagree with it (I don't think I could have an abortion), I think women should have the right to their individual decisions in the matter.

To each his own.
Abortion is not murder. I'm tired of answering abortion questions, but I still continue to because I'm a woman, and it pisses me off to see people trying to take my rights away.
MY body, MY life, MY business, MY fetus, MY choice.
Although I do think some people are stupid for not using birth control, or taking the morning after pill, that doesn't mean they should be bringing a child into this world.
Also, sex is a beautiful, natural, pleasurable thing and anybody who says to wait until marriage is a moron. Marriage doesn't mean ANYTHING. Marriage is just a piece of paper you sign; marriage is a contract, and nothing else.
Everybody deserves to have sexual pleasure, no matter how young they are. If they are ready, let them have sex. It is nobody's business, and nobody has a right to criticise people who have sex. Yes, mistakes happen and the women becomes pregnant, that's why abortion is an option! What kind of person is going to stop having sex?! I know I can not live without sex. NO, i'm NOT some horny freak, but i love sex just like anybody else who is sexually active does. Sex is wonderful, and nobody can deny it or say they do not enjoy it.
Pro-lifers should just mind their own business already and worry about more important matters as opposed to obsessing over insignificant embryos and fetuses. Pro-lifers waste their time harassing and attacking people who have had abortions and pro-choicers just because they have different views and opinions. Pro-lifers can be accomplishing many things, but NO, they decide to waste their time getting into other peoples' business. I mean, come on, do they really think attacking abortion clinics, or praying in front of them will make a difference? They should mind their own business and get an education. "God" will not "help" them through everything. They should use their brains and stop relying on religion.
"Kill" the unwanted embryos, and fetuses!

April G, I wish I could give you more than one 'thumbs up'... You stated it perfectly. I read an answer on here to either this question or a similar question about a rape victim that conceives a baby by the rapist should keep her baby. How do you think that woman is going to feel about that baby? She's not going to want a constant reminder of what is probably the most terrible moment of her life. And how do you think that baby would feel, as it grows into a toddler, and a child, and a teen, and his/her mother doesn't care for him/her as much as she would a child that she conceived with the man she loves? Would you want to be raised that way? And even if the rape victim gives the baby up for adoption, that kid will one day want to know who its real mother was. And if s/he finds the real mother, how do you think s/he'll feel when s/he finds out his/her mother didn't want him/her because s/he was a product of rape? I bet that will make a kid feel real swell, don't you?
Now, on the other hand.... If the girl's a slut who sleeps around with dozens of men and can't even keep track of who her babies' daddy's are.... sterilize the broad!!!!!

I feel abortion should only been done if delivery will either kill the baby or the Mother.
If you are too stupid to think ahead when you are having fun in bed, you have the child and then give it up for adoption. At least that way the child will be able to live and not just die for no reason at all.
Rape would be another issue. I know if I was raped and then found out I was pregnant I don't think I could have the child. Going nine months with the constant reminder of what happened to you could emotionally drain someone. That would be harmful to the baby right there.
But if you are strong enough to have the child and then maybe give it up for adoption.
