Dont like fish, But my chips have to be a little crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside, the perfect chip

a chinese would use their own batter which is alot thicker than english fish batter im sure some make a lovely fish and as for chips they normally use frozen while a chip shop is expected to make fresh cut chips.

They can...there's a hotel 8 kilometres from me here in France that makes fish and chips every bit as good as any I had in the UK

Because no-one born outside Britain has any idea how to over-salt, over-cook, over-batter and generally abuse food the way a native Brit can.
And don't even get me started on how a Frenchman or a Taiwanese can bugger up a mushy pea fritter...

Just buy them from somewhere else then, there's plenty of great chippies about.
If you wanna try great fish & chips, try it at a Harry Ramsdens restaurant. They're delish!

Decent is a loaded word. Do you always get the fish undressed? If you get it drunk with malt vinegar, then its your own bloody fault.
