If there is any evidence of continued bleeding report to your ER immediately. Otherwise, look for the paperwork given to you at the hospital for post cardiac cath care. Hopefully they gave you a list of things to do and complications to look for and the appropriate treatment for each. At the minimum, they should have given you a phone number to call. A large hematoma should be managed by your physician. Call them to report the hematoma and size. They may need you to come in and get it checked.

Are you referring to a superficial hematoma? If so, ice is recommended on the site. If you are referring to an emboli, then a blood thinner, like Coumadin, should be prescribed.
