Yes, asthma can cause chronic bronchitis and here is why. If you have asthma and don't use maintenance therapy to control it, ie. advair, singular, flovent, pulmacort, azmacort, servevent, you will incur whats called airway remodeling. Because the bronchial tree is constantly inflammed and full of mucus, without any attention, the airway will begin to "remodel" itself and take a shape that is more conducive to mucus and inflammation, at a price that is very detrimental to your lung health. Chronic bronchitis will insue because your lungs are now a perfect breeding ground for infection, and since airway remodeling is permanent, antibiotic therapy is sometimes unable to help.

Asthma is an allergy and is triggered by something. The best non medication treatment for asthma is learning your triggers and avoiding them. Common triggers are smoke, dust, mold, mildew, plants, dust mites, pets and grass/weeds.

If you can not figure our your triggers, you may need to see an allergist and have allergy screening done. This may point out your triggers.

The National Asthma Prevention Program and the Expert Panel of Diagnosis and Management of Asthma both agree if you have to use a prescription inhaler such as albuterol more then two time per week, your asthma is NOT in control and you will need a prescription controller medication.

Controller medications are steroids (Asthmacort Asthmanex, Flovent, Pulmocort), Leukotriene modifier (Singulair, Aculade, Zyflo) or mast cell stabilizers (Cromolyn sodium, Intal, Tilade).

You may want to talk to your doctor about several strong controller medications and maybe Xolair shots.

If you want a proven, all-natural way to cure your asthma, without having to pay for useless medications with harmful side-effects, then this is the most important page you'll ever read.

Asthma can trigger bronchitis, yes, but not cause it. I used to get bronchitis 4-8 times a year but, since I don't hang around with smokers anymore and don't smoke myself, it's cured itself.

Yes. You should talk to your doctor next time you are in or just
call and ask for his nurse. It can cause asthma and asthma
also makes you suseptible to bronchitis because when you get
a cold it is worse than the person that gets it who doesn't have
asthma.

First of all CONGRATULATIONS for telling allopathic quacks 'OFF'. If you are looking for non-medicinal approach try yoga and in yoga we have what is referred as SOUND THERAPHY. In this you sit comfortably on the mat. Take a slow deep breath filling your abdomen, midchest and upper clavicular part then instead of breathing out, chant OOOOOMMMMMM. In this manner starting with 5 ooommms reach a target of 21 ooommms preferably both in the morning and evening and you should see the results in 3 months time. Meantime additionally try to do LINGA MUDRA which is simply formed by interlocking the palms together and clasp your fingers. One thumb remains upright and encircled by the thumb and index finger of the other hand. Keep this in front of you near your chest or alternatively keep it on your thighs. Starting with 5 minutes reach a target of 45 minutes. You can do it while watching tv as well. You can also do it by splitting the timings to 15 minutes in the morning 15 minutes in the afternoon and 15 minutes at night. Lastly try consuming raw garlic in your food. but if you opt for homeopathic remedy delete raw garlic from your diet. Best of luck and may you recover naturally fast. Cheers! :o)
