I'm throwing my boyfriend a birthday party in october. I rented out the upstairs of a popular bar in town and would like to give the room a club like feel. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can do this?

It really just depends on how much money you can put into the decorations..... Colored lights are always a good way to add that "dance club" feel to things. I have a light that revolves and throws color all over the room and i got it from a store called Spencers in the mall for about 20 bucks. I have mounted it to the ceiling before for many parties and it puts revolving color all over the walls and its very "clubish" for pretty cheap. Colored christmas lights are another cheap way to add light. Staple them to the ceiling or walls in all different colors going in all different directions. Black lights are also pretty cheap and can add to that club feel, heck if you have the time and the money you could even go to your local fabric store and buy several yards of black fabric, the cheapest you can find, and drape it on the walls of the room then throw black light paint on it so that it glows with the black lights. You can also rent or buy a fog machine for pretty cheap these days and it adds a lot of instant atmosphere, the same goes for strobe lights. Plus everyone looks like a hot dancer under a strobe light. Pass out glow sticks at the door, they even make glow stick earrings for the ladies. Also a disco ball or mirrors placed across from your light features can make it feel like you have more in there than you actually do if you cant afford a lot. Other than that just make the music loud and pack the place out. Have fun im sure it will be a blast and your boyfriend will love you for putting out that extra effort for him.
