I have the Cozmo and stay connected for swimming if I will be in for awhile, but disconnect for showers and swimming if I will be out within an hour. My problem with swimming with my pump is not leaking- it really is waterproof- it's having no place to clip it.

I definitely like my Cozmo. There are free software upgrades. I also like all the features it has- like the "meal maker" that adds up carbs, the customized text on screen, and the memory for temp rates. It's a great pump.

My son is on the Animas 1250. We love it! The major reason we chose Animas is that it has the smallest basal rate increment out of all of them. That may not be something you need but for my son who is only 7 it is a big plus.
They say it is waterproof but if you ever drop it or bump it and it gets even the smallest crack in it it may get water inside.
They make cases that are waterproof which you put your pump inside. I am not sure where to get them though.
If you go to the American Diabetes Website and go to the Place for Parents message board there are alot of kids on their that are on the pump and have the waterproof cases. They can probably tell you where to find them.

I love the Animas pump, but again, on the message board there are alot of kids who are on all different kinds of pumps and all the parents are happy with whichever pump that they chose.
I can't speak for any pump company other than Animas but their customer service rocks! I had a problem with the first one they sent me and when I called and told them, they sent me a new one which I got the next day. I think it is a personal decision as to which pump you like. I would try to check them all out and pick which one you think would be the best for you.

Oh, on the ADA board I mentioned, someone had once posted a link to a chart that compared all the different pumps, that might help you decide as well.

Here's a link to the message board if you want to ask the parents any questions, someone will post the pump comparison chart again if you ask. http://community.diabetes.org/n/pfx/forum.aspx?nav=messages&webtag=adaparents

Depends on your age. My son had the Animas pump from 8-10 and went through 5. They are really quick sending them out and have excellent customer service. Somehow he got water in one in the pool and since they are dirt cheap, lol we started making him disconnect during swimming. You have to replace this o ring when you change the batteries and frankly it is a pain. Batteries are like watch batteries and hard to find and expensive. Cosmo uses AA batteries. We switched to the Cosmo and he has not broken it and had it a year that is testimony enough for me. Cosmo's alarms are not as loud and Animas has loud ones. Cosmo screens have to be pushed a little harder but has many more features. Make sure you talk to your diabetes educator or pump specialist about it, they know you better and the pumps. Good pumping you will love it, much better control.

I have the minimed paradigm 515, but I just attended diabetes camp as a med student. The pump people there (Animas, Deltec, and Minimed were all represented) said that none of the pumps should be considered waterproof, because it is very possible to get microcracks in the casing without you being aware. They are all designed to withstand accidental dunks, but they all say to remove it while in water.

Personally I find the minimed models easier to navigate the menus, but that could just be cause I've had mine for 8 years, and I've only handled the deltec and animas pumps maybe 2-3 times.
