Ask the host if they don't mind if you bring some drinks. It might be a help, but if someone else already is, or if they had other plans then you would just feel out of place. If you can't bring drinks and really don't want to cook maybe offer to bring a dessert and then buy something. . . .Otherwise make something really simple, like a veggie tray - you could either make that or buy it all set up already probably at a local supermarket or WalMart. . .or Fruit Salad. Really no cooking involved there but it's great for a BBQ!!!

Please don't try to cook on a BBQ if you're not already a pretty good cook. Barbecuing is very hard to do well. You will either burn everything, or undercook it and give people food poisoning. The only exception I can think of would be corn on the cob, which if you boil it first for ten minutes (or nuke it in a microwave on Fulll for 5 minutes) and then put on the barbie for about a minute (rolling it around) will go lovely and charred and tasty. And nobody will get sick. If that sounds like too much trouble, bring drinks. And have fun.

This is so easy to make and everyone will love it. It's called helena's Sausage Bread
2 Loaves of French Bread, Cut out the Top with a Serated Knife and pull all the bread Pieces out
Then Get Sour Cream, Cream Cheese and Cheddar cheese.
Fry up some regular Breakfast sausage and chop some Green onion, Bell Pepper, and Jalepeno. Cook until all sausage is brown
1 Bell pepper about 4 or 5 jalepenos and I bushell of Green onion
Once the veggies are warm and the meat is brown put it in a pot add the Cream Cheese and the sour cream. Stir until everything is melted. You want to have enough to fill two of the French breads you hollowed out. Once the French Breads are full Top with shreded Chedar cheese put the tops of the bread back on and wrap in foil.
The cool thing about this dish is no freaking dishes, you cut it up and serve it and everyone there will worship you. Who's to say you don't deserve to be worshiped every now and then.

Make a coleslaw of finely shredded white cabbage and carrots - but don't use any mayonnaise - instead, use Schwartz salad seasoning.
Shred the veg the day before, add some seasoning (a little at a time)and mix well in - taste after about an hour to see if you have added enough. The seasoning will bring out some of the juices of the veg but they stay crunchy - and pretty well zero calories!
About an hour before you go just sprinkle a topping of the seasoning on and leave it - it looks great, too!
Your calorie conscious friends will love you - and so will others - it really is great!

My question to you is how well do you know these people? Are you meeting them for the first time or are the family you have known all your life??If you don't know these people, bring chips and dip or salsa name brands store bought. You don't want to step on any ones toes if you want to impress. Why?? There is always someone who makes "the best" of any certain dish. If these people are your family, it doesn't matter what you bring now does it? Bring drinks sodas are often shared as well as beer. As for paper plates etc.. do bring them. Chairs and a blanket. Hope this answers your question.

If you are invited to a bbq where there will be several guests, chances are that almost everyone will bring something to contribute and the host will also try to have everything that he or she may need for their guests. If you are going to bring something i suggest a gift for your host. A nice bottle of wine with a bow, some lovely flowers, a box of candy.... just a nice " Thanks for inviting me" gift that lets them know all their hard work and efforts havent gone unappreciated.

If you are not a confident cook- do not try, bring fun stuff.
Maguerita mix always goes down well, or dessert.
Bring bananas, chocolate and ice cream.
Pop the chocolate inside the banana skin, lash them on the barby and then leave to blacken,. Peel and put on ice-cream.
What could be better? Alcohol and dessert.

Take Pasta Salad:
1 box med. shell macaroni, cooked and drained
1 cucumber, peeled, quartered, and thinly sliced
1 box cherry tomatoes, quartered
1 bottle Italian salad dressing.
Put all ingredients in a large bowl and cover. Let sit overnight, stirring whenever you think of it (this blends the flavors).
I have received nothing but rave reviews for this salad. Hope you like it.
