We use the freestyle flash meter and you can use your arm instead of fingers and with a lancet that dials the depth you don't even hurt. It is the best we have found. Thereasence makes it.

Freestyle is a good monitor. That is what I use. you can use alternate sites for testing, your forearm, your thigh, etc... I think you would like that.. but you can go to a search engine and type in diabetic meters and find some good information. There are several out on the market these days and you can search the companies yourself, like Bayer, AccuCheck, FreeStyle, etc.. good luck... I have a yahoo diabetes group and the file section has all the monitors in it..abcdiabetes-international@yahoogroups.com

there is a machine that takes a small blood sample from your arm. your arm has less nerve endings than your fingers so it hurts less Check out this link for machines approved by the FDA. Good luck

I would ask your physician about the free monitor. They should be able to tell you which companies give them away . Most only require a prescription from your physician.
