It's called "patlican salatasi" (eggplant salad), if it's basically grilled or sauteed eggplant, tomato, garlic, onion, etc--cooked to a caponata consistency. There's another dish with the same basic ingredients called "Imam bayildi", which is traditionally halved eggplants stuffed with sauteed tomatoes, onions, garlic and parsley, with olive oil, stewed until the eggplants are soft, and then served hot or cold. You can sometimes find Imam bayildi chopped and sold in jars/cans, but that's not typical. Eggplant features in many Turkish dishes, but the catch-all phrase "patlican salatasi" is used to describe a lot of them. Hope this helps! No matter how you eat eggplant in Turkish cuisine, you really can't go wrong!

I don't know what you mean why caponata but eggplant is "patlıcan" in Turkish and we have many famous dishes with this vegetable. If you can describe the dish "caponata" I may come up with its name.
