I don't think they stay around along enough to go bad. I'm half costarican. My uncles and aunts go to the market almost everyday and they usually just buy enough for a few days and what they buy they use almost immediately. It's not like here in the states where we buy stuff and it sits in our fridges for 2 or 3 weeks.

There are a lot of countries who don't have the refrigeration technology that we are so blessed to have. Many people purchase their food for one day's meal. Here in America, we buy out the store and stock pile in freezers, refrigerators, pantries. When I was in Norway, we went to market everyday to buy dinner. There was a special feeling walking around with your basket sniffing fruit, selecting fresh brown eggs, or white - feeling the textures of vegetables, buying freshly ground coffee- sticking your hand in the huge shrimp cans and picking your own, fresh baked bread and cheese, adding flowers to your basket and then finally, a nice bottle of Chianti. It was an awesome experience.

you do not have to keep an egg in the refrigerator, but they will stay longer if you do. An egg is good for about two weeks when left out.
